These disks work quite well, I was able to totally flatten some large steel test welds with no problem and relatively little time and effort. I'd hesitate to use them on wood as 40 grit is pretty coarse and I'd expect them to take off more material than I'd want unless doing really rough work.The only problem I had is that the mounting flange is thin, and I had a hard time getting them mounted snugly on the angle grinder shaft. I couldn't get an exact measurement, but they appeared to be only about half as thick as some other flap disks I compared them to. Once I got the disk tight, the thin flange was not a problem.

This pack of 4.5 inch flap disk sanders are a great deal at $39.99 for a 40 pack. At a large box store locally these would cost you double this price or more. They are also good quality and were exactly what we needed for deburring some bolts we cut off for installing our new automatic gate opener. They function as they should and will last. I would highly recommend this set.
