When deciding what I wanted to buy I didn’t realise these needed the hub too in order to use matter. This also means the buttons don’t show in your HomeKit app, you have to choose their actions within the Flic app.

Got them for iOS MIDI control, setup was quick and no-nonsense. The app switches the Flics to universal mode and that’s it. Setting midi channel/value via the app is easy as well

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I don’t have easy access to the router my household uses, so I got just the Flic buttons without the hub. According to Amazon and Flic, you should be able to add Flic as an Alexa skill and then add the button to your list of connected devices. Then you can make a routine. I tried to connect my Flic to two different devices (up to date, VPN turned off, restarted the devices, etc). Nothing. Then I downloaded IIFTTT, which is designed to create a bridge between devices that don’t want to connect. According to IFTTT, Alexa cannot respond to a prompt from Flic. The Alexa skill page for Flic has terrible reviews, left pretty recently, along with the Flic2 subreddit. I kind of get the feeling that the company threw Flic together, banged their heads on the keyboard to brag about Flic’s functionality and connectivity abilities, and then walked away. Maybe folks are having better luck with the hub, but I will not be spending any more money on their products and honestly? If the hub is as half-a**ed as the integration is, I’m not sure I want to just stick it directly into my home wifi.

Amazing for my frail, elderly and disabled mum. A great way of her contacting family when she isnt up to talking to the Alexa. Makes her so much safer.

These buttons work very well with the Alexa devices and they replaced my Smartthings buttons, which needed to happen since Smartthings is unreliable and now they're pretty much nuking their entire platform by removing all user made modifications.Anyway, these are very expensive and they need a hub. That's the downside. The upside is that they're small and they work consistently. It took me two minutes to download the app, connect the hub, and set up the buttons. Alexa integration is ridiculously easy. Just set the buttons in the app to work with Alexa and they appear as a possible trigger in the Alexa app. Here is the biggest issue encountered after just two days. Nearly ALL of the buttons fell off of the walls. Some were attached to doors--others to drywall. All, but one, fell. And I have pets, so they were all hairy when I picked them up. Just glad no one decided to chew on them (stupid cats will chew on anything). And, no, animals didn't knock them off. Some were well out of reach.Their adhesive is terrible. They should just have done what the Smartthings buttons did and make them magnetic. Then people have the choice: double sided tape OR a magnet (I attached washers to the wall, so I could just take them off and put them back on at will). Now I just need to use double-sided tape anyway, as the adhesive fails pretty quickly.Other than the garbage adhesive, I like these quite a bit. And the button feels nice to push and there aren't as many accidental presses as a Smartthings button, which will press down if you breathe on it.4/5. Overall, a great product with a crappy adhesive.

I tried the Flic buttons using Bluetooth (e.g., no hub) and it was a horrible experience. You could only get the buttons to work if you opened the app and your phone was in range (iPhone experience). With the hub, it’s a whole new game. No issues with button connectivity. And with the hub, you get the benefit of being able to connect the buttons to homekit. However! Each button must either be completely dedicated to HomeKit or completely un-dedicated to HomeKit. To give an example, you can program 3 button actions per button - click, double-click, and long press. If you add a button to HomeKit, all of those actions must be done using HomeKit. You can’t have a single click do an Alexa action (or other non-homekit action) and then have a double click do a HomeKit action.Another feature that I would like to explore more is that you have a 2mm and 3mm jack input on the hub. So, you can attach a speaker or a receiver attachment. There is a feature that will allow you to make the buttons control your remotes but you need that receiver (it’s not included) but it seems neat. With that all said, buttons *with the hub* are great. The buttons without the hub are poo. If you’re gonna get the buttons, get the hub.

i was really hesitant to buy these without a hub based on the reviews. it seems like that’s only an issue if you live with someone else or don’t like having your bluetooth on. i live alone and my phone usually has bluetooth on anyway. the alexa integration took a second to understand and set up but there’s plenty of information online about how to do it if you struggle. now i can walk in the door and click a button and my lights turn on and a youtube video of a fireplace plays on my tv. i love them a lot.

Found them to be problematic and quite unreliable. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It's far easier just talking to alexa.

I love these smart buttons. I like that I can customize their functions. I don't always have my phone with me so it's nice to be able to turn on my smart lights as I walk by and it makes things easier for visitors. The only minor annoyance is when I press hold, sometimes it registers as a click. I had to contact the manufacturer once for something unrelated to this purchase; they were quick to reply and very friendly.
