Super loud at idle in my 2003 GMC 6.0l. The drone at highway speeds is annoying (tiny cab with a 12" sub and the exhaust drownsit out). I have a Flowmaster on my '91 5.7l and its sound is perfect. Low grunt when you get on the gas, close to stock otherwise. That's what I expected from the description. To sum things up; super loud at idle, very loud in town, and drones horribly on freeways. Sounds OK going downhill at 80mph. It's not too bad around 3,000-3,200 RPMs. The glasspack on my 73 Datsun was quieter with a better exhaust note. My '68 Ford 360 is also quieter, and thanks to rust, is almost straight piped. This muffler makes me sad. Maybe I got a bad unit missing its baffles? Flowmaster, any advice?

Used for my '05 2500HD 6.0. Nice low, "quiet" rumble at idle, great mid range growl and beautiful aggressive sound when getting on it without the raspy sound some mufflers give. This is the only Flowmaster I've ever bought and I'm not disappointed. Also, dimensions are almost perfect for stock piping alignment. Did not need to modify my tailpipe to line up with hangers.

I installed this on a 2001 big blook 8.1 2500HD. inlet end was a easy bolt-on. The outlet end was a little more work, the adapter for the tail pipe, worked well. We had to try to make the tail pipe, round again, from factory, was bent a little flat. Fixed it by putting it in a vice to try to reshape it. Finally mig welded it to together. I will report back if there is a problem. It sounds pretty good.

So I have this on a big block 8.1 and its the best sounding Flowmaster in my opinion. At low and mid rpm it sounds great but fades at higher rpm and is a little quiet. I do have small 2.5 inch cats just in front of the muffler for some reason maybe that is why. Maybe when i put 3 inch back on there it will make it a little louder and smoother sounding in higher rpm. With this muffler your never going to get tired of the sound being to loud even with towing.

I have a 2001 Silverado 3500 dually with the 8.1L gas engine. This muffler fit perfectly and the mild sound increase from the stock muffler is also perfect. Had a shop cut and install it for $75.

Great muffler, not really the classic sound and is pretty quiet but not the less has a good sound.Installed on 2013 F-250 6.0 gas. Very large and flows great. I would buy this again even though I think it’s a bit pricey.

Have a 2003 Yukon Denali with factory exhaust. The sound of the Factory exhaust sounded fine, but noticed I was getting check engine lights and lower than normal MPG.When it came time to replacing the exhaust (I have had a to-do-list of parts to upgrade), I wanted something that would "liven" the engine sound, but not be too much. I browsed Flowmasters website and found the different models based on sound. This model was on the quite end of the spectrum. I took a gamble and purchased this muffler. After purchase (and before receiving) I climbed under my Yukon to discover I had two pipes going in to the muffler (I did know that before buying) and one pipe out, but it was like 3 1/2". I was stressed. Where am I going to find someone who can bend 3 1/2" or 4" pipe? If you ask around, I couldn't find anyone. Made a quick call to Flowmaster to get ideas and they said "this muffler is designed for the 6.0L engine in the Denali and Escalade... it comes with a pre-bent pipe". So by accident I ordered the perfect muffler for my make and model. So back to my check engine light and bad MPG. After I installed the muffler and put on a new tip (I purchased a 4" tip from amazon) I was very impressed with the sound and look of tip, I drove around for 10 miles and no longer had a CEL. Decided to do something unsafe and cut my old muffler in half. I discovered my old muffler was clogged with black junk... causing poor back pressure. Had no clue that mufflers could good bad and affect performances.I highly recommend this muffler kit. Made a difference in sound and minor improvements in lower end torque. This muffler isn't too loud and has "zero" in-cabin drone.

My old muffler that came on the truck had a hole in it. I tried repairing it and got about an extra year out of it. I didn't want a loud muffler and I didn't want to spend too much. But this was the only muffler I could find for my 6.0L siliverado. It had to have dual 3" intakes and one 3.5" outlet. It was an inch shorter than the original muffler. I was able to use clamps on the front inlets and a clamp on the end of the extension, but I decided to weld the extension to the muffler for more strength.I like the sound of the muffler. At first things were loud, but the new muffler also helped to highlight two bad detonation sensors. Once I replaced the sensors and put a new intake manifold gasket on, things quieted down during idle and sped up when I wanted to go faster.I would recommend this product, mainly because its the only one I could find for my application in this price range. Everything else was a cat-back system at 3 times the cost.
