I knew that the fan blades were different from the original part because they're curved. I was going to try the new blades, but the whole motor is smaller, so it didn't fit inside the cylindrical housing. I didn't realize the size until I got it here.

I accidentally bought two of these because my phone froze during my first order, so I ordered a second by mistake. Fine my bad. Both orders could have easily fit in one box but instead I get two huge boxes for a tiny product. And get charged for shipping for both seperately of course.

I live my fluval but the impeller on the 404 is prone to break. I have even had problems getting one new in the box that its already broken. They have fixed this problem in newer models and I will upgrade one day when the filter gives out but other than the impeller its built like a tank so as long as I can replace the relatively inexpensive impeller there is no need to do so.

Part came in quickly as described! Using this and another part I was able to take a "free" fluval 404 which was given to me and fix with these parts for less than 20 dollars. So thank you to this seller for taking the time to list these parts on Amazon!
