They do glow but only with constant UV-Black light exposure. The thread is somewhat brittle, when fly tying it will break the thread after a few wraps so the best method would to go slow and it can’t be too tight.

This is very thin filaments it comes apart with the slightest pull. I tried to put it on a hook thinking maybe it was just me. It broke twice being gentle, not even tying any material down with it. This is just a bad product save yourself the headache and move on. I agree you could pull it apart for dubbing. Returned.

This is a fabulous assortment of thread colors for fly tying. The description says there is at least 160 yards per spool, however, the spool itself is labeled 100 yards. I did not measure it. With that conflicting information, who knows how much you really get?It should be noted this does not appear to be waxed cotton thread. The description does not identify the thread material, but it seems to be some type of loosely woven poly-blend. This may present some issues in tying.

Got the 12 pack of assorted colors last week. These are a great value! I usually buy UTC thread, but for 12 spools of assorted colors, they would be twice as much. The thread is a good diameter, not too thin and its pretty strong. It holds dubbing wax well also. Overall great product, I will definitely be getting the flashy set.

If you're a fly fisher, you might like to tie your own flies. Depending on your location, it might be difficult to find materials. If that is the case, you can count on Amazon to help you out of a bind. These threads will allow you to tie the flies you need to have a successful season. I would suggest them to anyone.

These were better than expected. As a fly tier myself, I have had issues with quality with off name brand fly tying materials and n the past. These are exceptional in quality and each spool has a good amount of flash material on them. They are strong and don’t easily break when pulled on like others can do. Comparable to any name brand at a great price.

The Greatfishing Fly tying thread comes in very bright neon colors that look great when tied. The bobbin fits perfectly in the holder. However, the thread is very thin and breaks easily so you have to be extra careful. Everything seems to cause the thread to break. The bobbin doesn't rotate easily as it is a bit grippy, so a bit of extra force can tear the thread. The thread isn't particularly strong, being just multiple thin strands twisted together. It is roughly 0.5~1lb test, and when the fibers loosen (which it does easily), the strength falls to the lower end. I mostly tie larger jigs/flies for salmon so I need a lot of wraps to secure the material. This tears easily so the more wraps I do the more I tear it. Sometimes I tear the line over 5 times per fly. It is far less durable than my other threads. If you tie very small flies, this is more suitable as it is thin and you won't have to loop as many times.Overall, it is an excellent neon colored thread but it is very thin and weak, so it is more suitable for very small flies. I suggest reinforcing it with some resin or super glue after tying off.

There are 12 spools of thread in every color needed to tie flies. Each spool has a lot of thread and will last me a long time. It does try to unravel as you work with it but other threads I have used in past tend to do the same. Spinning the bobbin holder tightens the thread right up so you can continue tying without issue.
