i have used the same infuser for years and years.. it even has the delightful tea brown patina from use... i have given at least a dozen away as presents... one to a good friend from Oxford.. his comment, gutsy to give an Englishman a tea anything, but this is great, he still uses it years after... the little drip cup is useless i rest mine in another cup until its next use.this one works, easy to use easy to clean...usually make 6 to 7 big cups of tea from one filling,, about 1 to 2 cm of dry tea this will of course expand... do not over fill it is very frugal in its use of loose tea.. leave the infuser seep in the cups to individual tastes...once you use it you will stick with it... built well with a no nonsense design...021622 update... this magnificent tea strainer is still working as designed... just bought 6 boxes of loose leaf Taylors Assam, what confidence.... i have not even had to change the batteries since i got it... i have several of these strainer the meshes fine holes keep all the unwanted tea bits from your cup.. you will not be disappointed. The mesh is spot welded into shape, this can be seen immediately by anyone that looks.. and the outside is then smoothed and polished to make it pretty...

Me encantó!

I spent a lot of time looking for a strainer. I have one from David's Tea however it slips inside of larger mugs as it doesn't have the extendable handle like this one does, to ensure it fits on all sizes of mugs. That was a big feature for me on this strainer. As well, other reviewers stated the holes were small that very little tea dust came through. This has proven to be trueI like that it comes with a lid that doubles as a place to set the strainer after you remove it from the mug. I like to cover my loose leaf teas as it prevents the volatile oils, which are beneficial, from escaping into the air. I guess technically some could still escape out the sides, since the strainer doesn't fill the mug, but at least where the tea is sitting is covered. My only issue is that it's a teensy bit on the small side, but I knew this when I bought it, and had I not previously purchased a larger David's Tea strainer, I wouldn't have found the size an issue. It's really only an issue if you're making a pot of tea. I put a tablespoon and a half of loose tea into this for a large mug I have, and it only fills it a third. So you could really fill it with a lot of loose tea for a small tea pot.Overall I think this is a great product. It appears to be well made, it cleans easily and it does the job well!

Beautiful quality, aesthetically pleasing, does what it needs to. My loose leaf rooibos will still fall through (slightly) but I'm not bothered. Might be nicer if it was deeper for larger mugs but I'm actually quite happy with it! It's a great addition to my loose leaf tea collection and I enjoy producing less waste, in comparison to using tea filters. If you're like me, you steep your loose leafs more than just once. This is great for that! But when you steep your last cup, make sure to empty the tea while it's still warm and easier to clean. Otherwise, I'll just boil some more water to get any hardened tea nice and loose when I get around to washing it. :)

I am using this every day to prepare a cup of tea with fine ground loose tea leaves. For Life told me before I bought this that the holes in the infuser are 0.3mm, which appears to be correct. It lets through the finest tea ground dust, but it really isn't an issue. Before I make a cup of tea I rinse the tea leaves with cold water anyway to clean them. This washes out most of the fine dust which I dump down the sink. Then when I make the tea with hot water a small amount of remaining dust washes through the screen and settles at the bottom of my cup into a puddle about the size of my thumbnail. I just need to be careful when I drink the last bit of tea not to disturb the dust at the bottom. There are finer filters out there, but they all have plastic parts. I prefer not to use any plastic with hot liquids as I am paranoid about toxins leaching out of the plastic.I also like the design of the supporting handle, which is made of stainless steel rod, is very sturdy and wraps around the underside of the infuser lip. The opposite end, where it is bent down, fits over the lip of the cup and helps keep it positioned while being wide enough to fit over a wide variety of cut designs. The ceramic dish which you can place the infuser in after it is removed from the cup, actually also can serve as a sort of lid for the infuser. There is a ring on the bottom of the dish which allows the dish to fit on the top of the infuser. I put it on top of the infuser while my tea is steeping, so that I have a partial cover over my tea to slow down the cooling.Inevitably some grounds plug up the holes after making a cup of tea. But here's a method for removing them:Allow the screen and stuck grounds to dry. Then try to knock out the grounds by tapping it against the edge of the sink. This will knock out some. For the ones that remain, hold the screen upside down under the kitchen faucet and blast it with cold water at maximum flow rate. Move the screen under the water stream to blast all the surface area of the bottom of the screen, then hold the screen horizontally under the water stream to blast the side walls. This usually removes all of the stuck grounds. Pretty effective method, I've found.

I like loose leaf tea and was looking for a good, easy brewing method at work without reverting to a strainer ball device or a teapot-for-one. After reading the existing reviews, I gave this a try and I think it's terrific. The fine mesh makes a nice steep, allowing all the leaves to unfurl, without too much dust in the cup after. The little porcelain dish is a nice touch to hold a drippy strainer in. I've used it five days a week for a few months and there's not staining or sign of wear; it's easy to clean, too.It fits nicely in every average mug I've tried so far. The well is deep enough that a shallow tea cup might not support it by its handles but should still steep okay. Mugs would be best, though, given its depth and flat bottom. Initially, I wasn't expecting to pay more than $10 for a tea strainer but the quality is quite good and it has paid for itself already in delicious brew.Love loose leaf and herbal tea? Don't want to make a whole pot? Like a tidy, easy tea station at work? This is for you!

I've used many tea infusers, but this one is the best one of the bunch by far.I can't ever recall seeing another infuser that had such a long handle on it, most of them just sit in cup with tiny handles that hold it up. The long handle makes it easy to dump the leaves without getting any liquid or leaves on your hand. All you need to do is wack the handle on the edge of the trash and the leaves pop right out. You might need to wack it harder to get some others out, but you get the idea; it's easy and clean unlike most tea infusers. Also, when you're pulling the infuser out of the tea, the long handle makes it easy to shake out the water in the infuser with the water dropping into your cup.The little dish is nice and enables me to keep this on my desk at work without it looking cheap and making a mess. I used to use a paper towel that would get nasty, but the dish works great and is easy to clean. The infuser itself holds more than you'd need, has small holes and is well-made. I'm very happy with this product. The price is a little on the high side, but for me it meets so many needs that other infusers don't. It especially works GREAT for me at the office. At home I use another one that isn't as nice, but I can also put that into the sink at home, something I can't do at work. I'd definitely buy this again. If you have any questions about the infuser, just ask in the comments and I'll try and respond promptly.

Looks just like the pic. And the porcelain dish is the perfect depth to collect the excess moisture. My infuser was a touch rusty like where the basket and handle connect. I HOPE it's not used. Not too sure how to explain this. But it seems like a strong, sturdy product from a construction and quality standpoint. It reminds me of the strength of products that were constructed 30 years ago (pre-cheapo manufacturing standards became the norm).I very much like the design, it allows for use in a variety of cup sizes, of which we use many, so that's a big plus. And the basket's easy enough to clean out. It is designed for very fine tea leaves, so do be prepared to scrub a little bit, but nothing too terrible at all.UPDATEI just bought a second infuser (and upped my rating from 4 to 5 stars after using my infuser for a week). This baby is great. Deep enough to work well with any type of tea leaves. The long handle and lipis also complementary to a small tea cup or a large mug. Easy to clean, and sits upright in the porcelain dish on it's own, which avoid drippy messes causes by rounded infusers.Couldn't pick a better infuser. Surprised more of this shape and style are not sold. But who cares - this one is avaialbe and fantastico!
