Why is are PVC fitting sockets bigger than their named size?
PVC sizes get their name from the inner diameter of the PVC pipe as they are nominal, or 'in name only'. If you add the thickness of the wall on each side of the pipe, the outside diameter of the PVC pipe will always be larger that the actual PVC size.
What will this External End Cap fit?
Important PVC Size Information
This External Furniture Grade PVC End Cap will fit over the end of standard 1/2" Size Schedule 40 plumbing-grade or Furniture Grade PVC pipe, which has an outside diameter of 0.840" or 13/16".

How to Use External PVC End Caps
Where to use PVC Pipe Caps
External PVC End Caps are prominently used as feet in most projects, ideally because they provide a perfectly flat surface even when PVC pipe is not cut uniformly. They can also be used to top PVC pipe segments for decorative purposes.
Connect the External PVC Cap to the Pipe
Align the PVC pipe with the End Cap and press it into place onto the pipe. If preferred, you can use clear PVC cement for a secure and permanent fit. Apply a small amount inside of the inner cap.
Tap in Place
Tap the End Cap onto the end of the PVC Pipe until it is fully seated over the pipe.

These are incorrectly manufactured and are larger than 1/2". I ordered the pipe and the caps, and these caps are too big. The 1/2" caps I picked up from Lowes do fit the green pipes. Either the pipes are too small or the caps are too big. Color is as pictured, and item quality itself is great.

I tried pet gates but they either didn't work well for would not fit properly so I decided to make my own out of this piping and fittings. I just needed to zip tie some netting to the gates and it didn't take long at all to make. I did glue some of the connections to add stiffness where needed. Perfect solution for what I needed.

Using this FORMUFIT PVC cap fit well on the FORMUFIT brand piping. I’m building a planter/greenhouse with it. This PVC is great because it has no markings, it’s non-toxic and food safe. I checked the pricing on this vs my local hardware store and it’s about the same, but I can be lazy and get it at my doorstep instead of running to the store.Combining this with the other FORMUFIT PVC piping/junctions/tees, etc. turned out really great. I will continue buying this brand in the future for more projects.
