Good for it's purpose, though I should have gone with heavy duty models. I used to protect the end loops on a 3/8 wire choker cable and aside from the loop being bigger than the thimbles, meaning I'd either have to struggle to put wire clamps on, or, as I did, just tape one side of the thimble to the cable, it did protect the cable. But when winching heavy logs up out of a ravine, the force twisted and eventually destroyed the thimble. This may not have happened if it was used on a cable where you formed the loop to the thimble with wire clamps however.

it says for half in cable but, it is plenty flimsy. I'm not sure how they'll hold up in a great tug of war. I had to smash a little bit because it would not fit in the hooks. Better than nothing I figure.
