About this item

This Graduated Filter is specifically made for Cokin P-series. It features a soft edge gradual, with +2 stop on the darkest side, gradually decrease near the center of the filter allowing emphasis of foregrounds or backgrounds. Color of lens gradually fades out, so the boundary between the colored and transparent sections of lens will not become apparent even with the lens aperture stopped down. Each Filter comes with a storage case.

I haven't used it much yet but when I do I like results I get in my pictures.

Works well. Still learning how to best use it. Still need to underexpose the foreground to get sunsets on Mt. Wachusett, but not as badly.

This filter is a fine filter for what it is. My issue is with it being graduated. I went to an air show a couple of weeks ago. The sky was clear and the sun bright. I was excited to use this filter to provide some balance between the sky and areas closer to the ground (many of the jets and planes flew very close to the ground). Granted, I am not a professional photographer, in fact I am just learning. But the problem I had was after zooming the lens in on the subject and focusing, the darkened area wasn't at the top anymore. Thus I had to also adjust the filter. Quite often then I missed the shot. I ended up taking the filter off and just using a clear UV filter.

I tried it and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Excellent Filter!! As soon as I received it I tried some landscape shots from our roof. I was amazed with resultant depth of colors of the sky, and this is what I was looking for. I would certainly recommend this filter to friends.

If you shoot landscapes or just general photography outside, you need this filter. It can lessen the difference in brightnessbetween the sky and earth, while also making the sky bluer and the clouds whiter as well as lessening the problem of how or to expose the image. It can also lessen the reflection from water allowing you to see the stones in the river bed, etc.

While I have yet to use it on many test captures the product and support are spot on. The filter seems to have a very good (soft) transition to clear right at the halfway mark. It does appear to be true neutral grey without a warm or cool tint. Im only at 4 stars pending more use.

For my purposes, the optical quality is good enough. That is, I can not really say that I see any loss in sharpness/quality at all using this filter. The effect is really cool.
