So I bought these for my 1998 Honda Goldwing and in the ad they say they will fit and while they do fit but just barely. They look good but I would recommend going with a smaller size clamp.

These highway footpads and mounts come with the all tools needed for installation except for a wrench/socket for the primary mounting bolt and locking pliers for compression of the same (to be described momentarily). They are of generally high quality, with room for improvement in a few design features. The chrome finish is quite good, and the rubber grips on the foot pads are thick and strong enough to provide excellent traction. My installation was on the OEM engine guard on a 2013 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic. No installation manual was included with the product, so you'll have to figure it out on your own.The first installation issue with this design is that for mounting on this size of engine guard, I believe no grip spacer would normally be used. Unfortunately, because the interior of the clamp is polished chrome, there is insufficient friction between the clamp and the engine guard to keep the assembly in place once force is applied by placing your feet on the foot pads. (Once the clamps are fully closed, it is not possible to get them any tighter.) Application of a rubberized material or higher-friction finish on the interior of the clamps would alleviate this problem. Inserting the thinner of the grip spacers solved the friction problem, but I had to squeeze the clamps with Vise Grip pliers (protecting the finish with a rag) to expose enough thread to get the clamp bolt started and secure the clamps to the engine guard. As you can see from the photo, the clamp flanges are tightened a little past parallel, so this problem would have been easily alleviated with a slightly longer bolt, which should have been the case anyway since...(Second installation issue) No washer was included for the clamp mounts. This guarantees that you will mar the chrome on the clamp mounts when tightening the mounting bolt. The third installation issue is that there is not enough room at the footpad pivot point to insert the footpad and both spring clips. I was able, with some difficulty, to insert one spring clip in each mount, but there is physically not enough space in the U-shaped pivot mount to insert two spring clips plus the footpad attachment point. The good news is that the single spring clip on each side has been sufficient to keep the footpads in their retracted position when desired...at least so far in my experience.Other than the short mounting bolt, no washer, and spring clip installation issues, these are really quite nice highway footpads. They are extremely adjustable, which is great for riders of smaller stature like me who need highway pegs on the rider's side of the engine guard, not extending off of it. I'm still tweaking the location & orientation of the footpads, but am confident I'll find the right configuration to fit my frame and riding style, thanks to the high adaptability of this mounting system.Excellent product, overall, with some simple design tweaks that would make them near-perfect.

Yes, installation is relatively simple. Yes, I have installed similar foot pegs before. However, I like to have at least basic instructions to show the "intended" method of assembly and this set did not include instructions.Construction feels solid. Adjustability is excellent as you can switch the position of the peg up, down, forward or back by varying the angle on the extension. You can also swivel the foot peg itself to square up to your riding position. I like the width and length of the pegs themselves and the rubber grip material feels solid and helps dampen vibration.Other than the lack of instructions, my only complaint so far is the difficulty in installing the spring washers in the mount for the peg itself. It is a very tight tolerance and difficult to get two washers in place, thus my desire for instructions to be sure that both washers are intended to go where I am assuming they go.

I bought this because it had lots of adjustability, but it is not properly made. Every connection is high gloss painted black against another high gloss black surface. There is nothing you can do to get any of the connection tight enough. Everything slips and moves no matter how tight it is. I don't trust putting the weight of my leg on it, especially if I'm on a highway and want to push slightly to adjust in my seat.Go buy a variety pack of thin rubber washers of all different sizes if you want to attempt this to feel secure. I tried to insert a lock washer in one location, there wasn't enough thread on the bolt to squeeze in the thickness of a regular lock washer.
