About this item

  • Long Jaws: A jaw depth of 2.5" permits greater accessibility, and the thick frame is used in rigorous environments; fine-adjust screw ensures accurate measurements, and locking screw secures the measurement tightly in place
  • 4 Measuring Modes: This vernier caliper can be used to measure inside and outside dimensions, depths, and steps with 2 sets of jaws and a depth rod which can be read directly from the vernier
  • Accurate Measurements: Vernier calipers with measuring faces that are ground and lapped for extreme accuracy; sharp black graduations on the satin-finished beam for precise readings
  • Durable Construction: This caliper is made of hardened stainless steel that provides durability and wear resistance; all sliding surfaces are raised to prevent defacement and wear of graduations
  • Set Includes: A Fowler 52-058-012-0 vernier caliper and a fitted box for storage

The Fowler 52-058-012-0 series fine adjustment vernier caliper measures in inch and metric, has a 0.001"/0.02mm graduations, and four-way measuring for inside dimensions (ID), outside dimensions (OD), depth and step measurements. An extra-fine vernier ensures accuracy, and a depth rod can be read directly from the vernier scale. A fine-adjustment screw provides accurate measurements and settings, and a locking screw secures the measurement tightly in place when required—sharp black graduations on a satin-finished beam ease reading. Raised sliding surfaces prevent wear of graduations for accuracy and long life. Fowler, an American company, manufactures premium inspection and measuring instruments like electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and micrometers. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Canton, MA.

These are built solid, easy to read, and work super smooth. What more could you want for the price? Id buy again.

I got this to work use with a SainSmart Genmitsu 3018 Pro desktop cnc machine. I used the depth gauge and the step gauge to square the xy-table to the frame and then took a set of measurements and used them to modify the GRBL code settings to re-calibrate x-, y-, and z-axis. The fine adjust let me do this with great control over the vernier scale. The material quality of the caliper is outstanding; stainless steel is good stuff, and I expect the caliper to last for years. The US customary main scale of the caliper is graduated in 10ths of an inch, which is convenient more convenient to read than usual division of the inch into 8ths, 32ths, and so on, of an inch. I prefer to work in the metric system instead of the US customary system and the retrograde metric vernier scale really makes taking readings easy. The US customary vernier scale is also retrograde making it easy to read.

Es un buen vernier, el cero está bien ajustado algo que es fundamental en un vernier, no será un mitutoyo pero es de buena calidad con buena precisión.

Calipers are not a precision tool but with some skill you can get close enough. I like the dual scales inch and metric, this runs smooth and is well made. A great tool for the price, yea the vernier scale is a bit old school but very durable, no rack skip, no dead battery just works every time.

Excelente calidad. Retrasó en la entrega por un día, en teoría no había alguien para dejar el paquete.

I bought this to measure parts and assist me with product development. I do not need a very accurate caliper like the more expensive kinds, and I don't want a digital one that will need batteries. I also find digital ones flicker back and forth and never settle on a exact measurement. I like analog measuring tools. I use this to measure my small parts that I design, or parts that I benchmark. Works great and is a good price.

So the actual tool is fine. Actually great. It does what its made for and seems to be built very well. But when mine arrived the plastic case was damaged (in transit) so late that night I emailed the company asking if they'd send me a new cover. Most companies drag their heels on something as insignificant as that but when I woke up the next morning there was a message in my inbox from a guy named Dave saying he's gladly send me a new and try to have it shipped by the end of the day. Not only that but he said he'd send me an upgraded carry case from on of their more expensive products as well!IMO thats how you build brand loyalty and in future they'll have a repeat customer in me.

This is more accurate than the digital harbor freight special and no moving pieces makes it tough as well. it is longer overall than dial calipers however I was looking for something tough and this is it. Reading it does take practice and patience.cons: it does not fit in a back pocket easily and the case was not cut out properly, I think the case was made for a smaller caliper

I've checked it against some gauge blocks and it's as accurate as the more expensive verniers I have, it also has a sufficient span to tell you how far apart your nipples are down to the thousandth of an inch. Nice big vernier without the cost.Side note, it comes a little dry, to make it slide a bit nicer I'd recommend touching it up with a light oil.

Decent, fairly high precision caliper. Like another purchaser, my caliper was not properly zeroed. It is possible, however, to adjust the vernier scales to zero them-- the top scale is held in place with two screws, while the bottom is held by three, and there's enough play between the screw heads and their holes to make the necessary adjustments. It's fiddly work, and you'll need a magnifying glass and probably some kind of clamp to hold the scale in place while tightening the screws.Given the price, I find this acceptable, as well as the fit and finish of the unit as a whole. If you're looking for out-of-the-box perfection, you ought to buy one of the high-end Starrett or Mitutoyo models-- there's a reason they cost hundreds of dollars, and it's not because they have high markups.
