Your cart is empty.The Fowler 54-175-006 is an electronic height gauge with a hand-operated slider, a carbide-tipped scriber, a positive lock, a measurement range of 0 to 6 150mm, and a high-contrast LCD digital readout precise to 0 to 0.0005 0.01mm with + or – 0.001 of accuracy. A calibrated screw mechanism supports coarse and fine, uniform slider adjustments. The display has a hold function to freeze recordings and a zero setting function. Relative measuring and absolute measuring functions allow measurements of the true size or comparison measurements of parts to a master. The included scriber, used to mark position on the workpiece, is carbide-tipped for hardness and durability. The satin chrome finish on the scales resists rust and is glare-free. The base is hardened, ground, and lapped for maximum flatness. The working environment is 32 to 104 degrees F 0 to 40 degrees C with a surrounding relative humidity of 80 percent. The storage and transport temperature for the unit is -4 to 158 degrees F -20 to 70 degrees C. The gauge is powered by one SR44 1.55V silver oxide battery included that provides up to one year of normal use. The display flashes to indicate when battery replacement is needed. The gauge also comes with a molded case.Height gauges, sometimes referred to as gages, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column also called the beam to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Only used it a couple of times, and so far seems to do as expected. The height gage and my calipers agree to about 2/100 of a mm. Close enough for me, and the capabilities of my equipment.Only down side so far is that it is hard to read in low light, and you have to be on the same level as the display. I have to shine my shop light right at it to be able to read the results.

The only problem as other users noted, you have to tip it to read the display. If that problem could be solved it would be not just a good tool but a great tool.

This item is perfect for my shop. I did notice that the case is shown as a wood box but the actual case is plastic which I really don't mind. Overall I am very happy with this gauge.

Like most things made in China, this tool had a lot of dirt and grit in the sliding head. The sliding head felt like it was on sandpaper, rough sandpaper when i received it. It took a lot of tool oil and some time time clear it all out. After cleaning, it worked smoothly. Can't attest to the accuracy as I have no standard to check it with. But it does read the same as my Mitutoyo caliper (which required no cleaning.) All in all, I am satisfied with it considering the price.

This is not Mitutoyo, but It works fine, it has standard 1/4 inch mount so most of accessories such as indicator mounts work with it. Unit I have does have 0.01 mm repeatability as advertised. Most frustrating thing is that it is hard to read display at any angle rather than 90 deg so I have to sit down to see readings.

It came in a plastic case with handle.. very nice.. but I wanted that wooden box in the photos..
