I like the size for small projects. Carbide tips make for accurate and clean cuts. Hold on tight for the bowl gouge.

These turning tools were sharp enough to use out of the box and it was easy to set the carbide tips into the handles. You get a good variety of profiles for the carbide tips and you even get the curved handle to use for bowl turning. The handles are a medium size. They aren't huge handles for large spindle turning and they aren't the very small pen turning style handles, somewhere in between. The wood used on the handles could be a bit nicer in quality and there's some blemishes on the finish on the shaft of some of the tool, but these are mostly aesthetic problems. They work well, and the carbide tips cut cleanly.

I have a bunch of older steel tools that require sharpening maintenance, and they keep getting shorter LOL. I was excited to see these with longer lasting and replaceable tips. These are a smaller sized set of tools for more precision projects, and I'm sure they will function just fine. The tips look to be in good shape and they came with screws as well, inside a really nice little case with room for extra tips. I did not get the torx driver tool to install the tips however, but I think I may have something that I can use. The tools themselves have decent feeling handles that are sturdy, but some of the collars were a little loose. The diamond bit has rounded tips, but I have something already that will allow for making sharply defined bead details. This set includes my first curved tool for carving the insides of bowls, so I was super excited to get that and try it out. The weather is below freezing right now, but I can't wait for it to warm up so I can work in my garage and put these to the test. I have no worries about durability after my initial evaluations though. Thank you very much, I really like these tools and I'm very satisfied.

These lathe turning tools are surprisingly nice for the price. I have full size carbide tools, but for small items on the lathe, sometimes they're a bit too big. These are perfect for those small projects. They may not be finished as nice as Robert Sorby's, but for 1/4th the price these are hard to beat. Carbide cutters are razor sharp and cut smooth and fast. The brass ferrules on the handles were a bit loose, but a couple drops of super glue and they'll stay forever. Fit in your hand good and the square shafts rest firmly on the tool rest. Pretty good for an inexpensive set of carbide lathe tools!

I have had a very cheap lathe for years but recently decided to purchase a new modern lathe. I understand that carbide tools are much easier to learn wood turning with in comparison with standard gouges. These are not full sized tools, but will work for learning how to turn with them. No need for a sharpening system when using these tools. These will be great for getting me going on my new machine and then I can decide what other tools I need.

This set of turning tools is perfect for smaller items like pens and small bowls. I have been using carbide tipped tools almost exclusively for over ten years and have had only a few instances where traditional tools out perform them. If you are looking at either just getting into this type of tool or are specifically looking for a smaller set, this well built and balanced set should be on your short list for consideration.

Size is correct for the tools, but the cheap bits are not the best. No wrench came with it like shown in the photo, and it would be nice to have a piece of paper that had the sizes needed to order replacement tips. Haven't used them yet to confirm the quality while turning.

Haven’t used them yet, but on first glance they look good.
