Amazon.com

Designed for the serious woodworker, the Freud 99-569 Quadra-Cut - 3-1/2 Inch Dia. Cove Profile Raised Panel Router Bit with Back Cutter 3/4-Inch Stock Router Bit - 1/2-Inch Shank features a non-stick Perma-Shield coating and Freud's patented Quadra-Cut design for a smoother finish that requires no rework. Quadra-Cut employs four cutting blades, rather than the industry standard of two, allowing you to create smooth raised panels on all composition materials, including plywood, hardwood, and softwood. Thanks to its patented back-cut design, the panels it produces are flush and accurate. And because it's constructed with Freud's exclusive TiCo Hi-Density Carbide MicroGrain material, this durable router bit is designed to last.

Quadra-Cut Design for a Consistently Clean Finish
The exclusive Quadra-Cut design uses four cutters for a flawless finish. This innovative cutter design works by utilizing two of the cutters for an upward cutting action, while the other two cutters simultaneously cut downward. The result is an amazingly smooth finish that requires no rework.

Back-Cutting Design for Smooth, Professional Paneling
If architectural accuracy is a priority to you, the 99-569 is your answer. Thanks to its back-cutting design, this router bit can produce panels that are absolutely flush with a doorframe and have a full 1-1/2 inch reveal.

Use the 99-569 Raised Panel Router Bit with Back Cutter on any table-mounted portable router that accepts a 1/2-inch shank for creating professional-quality raised panels on doors and paneling, as well as decorative tops, plaques, and molding. The resulting panels will exhibit a glassy smoothness, even when you're tackling cross-grain applications.

Create a classic double-sided look on your panels with the patented 54-562 radius back cutter--or, if you're looking for a more contemporary appearance, replace it with the optional 54-560 square back cutter. To give you compatibility with most stile and rail cutters, the kit includes shims that allow for tongue thickness adjustments.

The 99-569 features a one-inch carbide height that easily accommodates stock measuring 3/4 inches.

Durable Design with Protective Coating to Resist Heat and Corrosion
Freud equips all of their router bits with their exclusive TiCo Hi-Density MicroGrain carbide for maximum durability and cutting life. In addition, Freud shields their bits from heat, rust, corrosion and wear by coating all of their Quadra-Cut Router Bits with their exclusive non-stick, red Perma-SHIELD coating.

The 99-569 Raised Panel Router Bit with Back Cutter is three inches long with a 1/2-inch shank and an overall diameter of 3-1/2 inches. This bit produces a beautiful two-radius design with a large radius of 1-1/2 inches and a small radius of 3/16 inches for a unique, custom look. Freud cutting tools are backed by the Freud Limited Lifetime Cutting Tool Warranty to ensure customer satisfaction with every purchase.

Should have realized that It had to be used with a router fence when ordered. I would expect a proper panel cutter to have a bearing between the panel cutter and back cutter. Without it, your stuck with needing a fence to use it safely and that eliminates any option of curved panel cuts done using a router table pin.As such, I sent it back unused.

Using this on red oak raised panel doors and it bites into the cross grain with a vengeance leaving a surface with minimal sanding to finish. Be sure to run it at slow speed and take three passes or it will burn the wood deeply. A bit of a learning curve on the set up when the top cutter is on board.

Ran a bunch of 3/4" MDF through this with my 3 and a 1/4 hp triton router and it worked beautifully. Nice clean cuts. I use mainly Amana and white side bits but this is definitely in the same league.

Works okay. They didn't put a bearing in the center for some reason. But it works.

I made about 40 hickory raised panels with this cutter and it did a very good job. It didn't burn much and it cut smooth. For those of you who haven't used hickory, it is a very hard wood. I'm not positive it will do another 40 as good but it definitely still has some life left.

I bought this about 2 years ago and used it to make about a dozen raised panels. It's a good bit and creates very smooth, beautiful profiles. I usually take 3 to 4 passes to remove all the material (that's when using 3/4" mahagony). I've used the bit together with the freud set 97-106 and it works very well. However, the bit's main disadvantage is it lacks a bearing which makes it impossible to use this on an arched panel - at least I'm not aware of a safe way to use a 3.5" bit without bearing without a fence.... so, anyone contemplating to buy this, I'd instead recommend to get the 99-519 bit.

Produces very smooth cuts with no tear-out on top. I like the backcutter in that it produces the back cut at the same time. I have only used this on pine and was able to route with one pass, although I would probably make at least three passes with a hardwood.
