Product Description

As a portable radio, the FrSky Taranis X9 Lite is a remarkable fusion of traditional radio design with the innovations of ACCESS protocol. The X9 Lite inherits its classic form factor from the FrSky Taranis X9D series remote control, along with completely preserving the comfort of the classic grip design, it also adds a program scroll button adding convenience when navigating the menu further improving the user experience. For beginners, the wired training function is retained, allowing beginners to improve their skills with the security of an instructors input upon command.

Like the Taranis X-Lite Pro, the new Taranis X9 Lite also uses the latest ACCESS communication protocol, along with ErskyTX / OpenTX open source operating system, it boasts 24 channels with a faster baud rate and lower latency with a high-speed module digital interface. Additional ACCESS features like wireless firmware updates and wireless configurations will be gradually unlocked, providing a more reliable, more secure link between the remote and model. Making the X9 Lite a fully functioning remote control with tons of extra features.

I really disliked this Transmitter. The screen was extremely low resolution and resembles a tetris game. It would not bind to any drone using standard Frsky protocols and requires an additional purchase of the XJT module to fly most Frsky equipped drones. The additional purchase raises the price of the equipment to match a much better radio. Could be great for beginners but I don't know of any drones this TX will actually fly. I'm giving this a very low rating for an Frsky radio not supporting basic Frsky protocols. This cost me shipping and 2 days on a project. The module cover would not come off, and I scratched the back of the radio trying to remove it. Now I can't return it and must wait for the module for make it with with common Frsky receivers. Don't buy this transmitter unless you can verify it will fly the drone!

Unfortunately this thing is a mess. The instructions that came with it did not match the firmware it had on board. I wasn't able to bind it to my receiver at all. The polarity on the batteries was backwards (BTW if your receiver doesn't turn on like mine didn't, flip the batteries to be "Backwards" and see if it'll work then... some of them are marked wrong). So I'm going to buy a new receiver and try again with that, if not, this is the last time I buy FrSky.

I bought a $120-130 controller that has the features of the $80 version. Same parts... its just White... feeling I wasted some $$$.

Had a problem trying to bind with the tiny hawk freestyle! Was told it would work!

I bought this for FPV racing, and was super excited when it came in. I got it to work with simulators pretty easily (just watch how you trim and set up your channels. It worked until I tried to bind it to a drone that used D8. Since it has ACCESS protocol, I couldn't use it for receivers that use D8 or D16 unless I bought a module to make it work (that would've been $30-$40 so it wasn't worth it in my opinion). I wasn't aware that I couldn't use the ACCST protocol that was on it for this purpose, so unless you have an ACCESS receiver, go with a QX7. Otherwise, this is a great little controller for simulators.

This is a good radio for the price.

The amount of hoops to jump through on getting this thing backwards compatible with even FrSky's own receivers is just dumb. The new module bay is specifically designed to not allow you to use Crossfire, or any other third party modules.I suggest not getting this and paying the extra $50 for a Jumper T16 Pro...it's multi-protocol and likely the only TX you will need for quite some time.
