Fuel pump was taller in size than my OEM fuel pump .it would not fit into place with out swapping the fuel filter covers from the old with the new one to allow it to fit into place and bolt it back up to the block. If your replacing your fuel pump keep the old one you may have to mix and match parts to make it fit into place . Once I swapped filter cover and hold down bracket and bolt it worked and I was back on the water in a day

Item arrived as described and mounted right up to my 1989 Mercruiser 4.3 like the OEM pump. So far so good, I only have about one hour or so using the new pump, but all is well.

The fuel pump for my 1990 4.3 Mercruiser was an exact fit, arrived before promised. Other vendors researched had longer ship times and charged more for shipping. I highly recommend this vendor based on my one experience with them. I will use them in the future for my needs.

Another update: Mercruiser fuel pump did a little better but did not eliminate problem entirely. Evidently the accelerator pump on recently rebuilt carb is not pushing enough fuel.Old pump was too high pressure and spilling gas into venturi so it seemed like carb was okay for acceleration. I think now the aftermarket carb would have been okay. Update; did not perform with my boat at the lake. Bogged down with full throttle hole start. As soon as the secondary's opened it almost stalled. Smoothed out after on plane but just could not supply enough fuel at start. Might be okay with smaller engine and 2bbl carb. I will have to try OEM pump......Just installed today. If it causes trouble I will edit review. Boat is 1991 Mercruiser 4.3LX 205hp with 4bbl Quadrajet carb. Orginal pump was developing too much pressure at more than 10 psi (pegged gauge) with starter. This causes carb to flood with poor hot starting and bad idle. Not to mention fuel leaking all over top of engine. Not sure I understand how a spring diaphragm pump can fail in that way. New pump is making 7.5 psi. Qjets are very sensitive and are designed for 5.5 psi. The Q/A says this carb is 5 to 8 psi and I would have preferred 5 psi. Boat ran great on muff today. The image is the old carb taken apart. There was rust and corrosion but diaphragm was intact.

Fixed boat, works fine. Watch YouTube videos on replacing mechanical fuel pumps. Got to keep that rod thingy pushed over to get it in. Very heavy grease works. Use 5/16 vinyl hose to replace the clear line if needed, found in plumbing department at Home Depot not at auto parts store. In conclusion, job is no fun.

Pump went out when I was showing off to the shore fishers. I had to do the paddle of shame back to the ramps while getting passed by kayakers. The pump was not designed to be changed easily but can be done in about 1 beers time. It does come with a preinstalled fuel filter and gasket.

So the pump initially failed to function due to cracked housing.I took it part, and put the housing from the old pump in.It then failed to provided enough fuel flow to allow the boat to get on plane. I have a fuel pressure gauge on it, and it goes to zero as the boat starts to accelerate.Having disassembled it to fix it once, not eligible for return. Basically $110 straight down the drain. Not a happy camper.
