This anchor is relatively small and easy to carry with its removable handle, yet it effortlessly screws into the sand and is hard to pull out of even dry sand! It is light enough to pack when you go out for a little sand and surf and makes a great anchor for an umbrella or shelter even in strong wind! I use it with my CoolCabana Beach Shade Tent and it holds it solidly. It can be screwed down flush to the ground and the eye makes it easy to tie off a rope.Much better than the samurai anchor I used last year (think sharp, heavy, 4' sword!)! It held slightly better but was large, heavy, and dangerous around kids! This one is easy to pack and almost impossible to step on if you screw it in near the base of your umbrella.

I was looking for something to keep iur skis off rocky beaches. This works great. Its heavy duty material and it breaks down to fit inside the hull of my ski. I was impressed that it held both skis without drifting like with sand bags or toss anchors

This sand anchor has decent holding power when screwed down all the way to the handle. I like that it states it is 304 Stainless (I wish it was 316), My magnet test shows mild attraction to the shaft but no attraction to the auger blades. The handle, on the other hand is not stainless at all and the threads connecting the halves together will rust quickly, especially if this is used in saltwater sand. This anchor needs to be thoroughly rinsed after each use and the threads sprayed with an anti-corrosion spray, otherwise the handle halves will seize up sooner rather than later. I like that the point has a rubber cap and it comes with a storage bag. If the handles were stainless this could be 5 stars. Overall, a very usable product that requires proper care to provide a long service life.

On the bench today, I have the Insaga 36β Fully Welded Boat Anchor, 304 Stainless Steel Kayak Anchor. This is a well made chunk of steel. As advertised all over the product title and page, it is welded along the entire length of both sides of the auger fins. The welds look smooth and looks likely that it was done by machine. Only the very start and end of each bead shows a little roughness.I know it is marketed for tying up watercraft and shown mostly in sand but really anything will go into sand without a lot of effort so for me to test it, I ran it down into the very rocky soil of my yard. You just have to give it a decent bit of downward pressure while turning until the auger catches a sturdy enough bite, a couple of inches down, to pull itself the rest of the way. I had no trouble chewing through the bunch of rocks as it sunk deeper. By the time I got it down about a foot into the ground, it felt plenty sturdy enough to anchor most things I might use it for. If you have a large dog and want to use it for that then I would probably want less sticking out above the ground or I would use a larger attachment hook that I could put at the base of the rod at ground level because with that much leverage of the attachment at the top, a strong animal could probably bend it if they snatched hard enough.Tho definitely donβt do like Iβve seen in some reviews for similar products where people complained about the anchor bending or pulling out when they were trying to do something dumb like winching a loaded full size trailer or vehicle up a steep hill. Thatβs an unrealistic expectation for anything similar to this. Both holes in the plate at the top of the 5/8β bar stock are right at 1/2β so the handle could go through and function in either one of them. I would think that the obvious choice is to use the top hole that is centered over the end of the bar but either would work.Speaking of the handle, the thing that I would like to see improved are the grips on it. They have no risk of coming off easily or anything but when you are tightening the handle together, they will spin on the grip so it does limit how tight you can get them. Which could possibly be seen as a good thing so you donβt crank them down too tight and then wouldnβt be able to get them apart when youβre away from any tools. I see myself likely either replacing them with something else or taking them off and using some kind of adhesive to more permanently attach them so they canβt spin anymore.A thing that I wish it came included with was a hex point at the head so that you could use an impact to drive it down if you wanted to, like their smaller anchors have. I will probably work up some attachment to be able to do that myself. Initial thoughts, Iβll probably be able to do something with a threaded eye bolt with a hook and a couple of jam nuts. The big question is just whether or not the plate at the top of the anchor will be able to handle that from an impact. All in all, itβs a good product and the price is very reasonable for what you get.
