I love playing retro games. Even when retro games are simulated on modern hardware, I miss the tactile feeling of dropping a coin into an arcade game. I ordered this coin acceptor so I could make a device that would add this option to older games. The first thing I noticed about the coin acceptor is that it didn't have any instructions. I had to do a lot of research to figure out how to configure the coin acceptor and wire this to a microcontroller. I was able to configure the coin size by placing a similar coin into the slot that reads "replace coins". I then found out that the red and black needed to be connected to a 12v power supply and the white is connected to voltage and a pull up resistor. Once everything was wired and the coin was configured, it was easy to use. The chrome exterior is plastic but looks nice. The kit came with bolts so that I could attach it to my coin controller. The construction is well done. It worked without problems. I like that it only accepts coins when powered on and the coin is rejected without power. I also like that it has various options to change the duration the signal is sent and the sensitivity to the coin. Overall, I'm happy with this kit.
