Great quality! Made in my home state of Maine. I was very surprised it wasn’t made in china. USA!

This is a good rawhide mallet, it's sturdy and as expected it's mid-weight and size. With any rawhide mallet it's required to clean the faces and soften them up a bit before use -- they're very hard would mar your work. This is not a problem, it's a normal procedure with a new rawhide mallet.Five stars and would recommend.

Best rawhide mallet for the value. After a little breaking in, works excellent for metal shaping. Highly recommended!

Solidly made hammer, great construction. I find it difficult to soak and break in the ends to soften up…. Lots of beating on concrete edge, hammering top of T-post, filing/grinding, etc to break down and soften the hammer faces….Just takes time and effort - repeating the process (some good utube videos out there showing the break-in process). Would be nice if there was an option to purchase hammers softened and broken in !!

Stop before you send it back because it's too small, like I almost did use it give it a chance works great because you can see the finer detail when you're working jewelry or smaller products that would otherwise be covered by the large amount produces a pretty nice wack while shaping metal fun projects or jewelry but most of all you hit exactly where you want I can see your work as a progressive I did also buy a number 4 but that's mostly because that's what I had in my head that I wanted to do was them before however I'm thinking this number two is going to get most of the work okay. And the rain has been around for years and very very well made and not overly done with Furniture shellacked I put it right to work didn't condition it all doesn't seem to be doing any damage to any of my brass projects small and thin I just tap a little softer until it gets worked in

Good weight on the product, I have used it only once so I am still getting use to it. But I am happy I was happy to stretch a ring to a correct size as it is the usage that I have of this mallet.

Seems pretty well made, though it's definitely not a "pretty" mallet.Good weight and all. Left it on my coffee table and my dog decided to resize one end of it for me. Still works great!
