It started squealing one month after I put it on. The old one was dry cracked and on since 2012 and did not squeal. 😟

The first gen Scion XB's (04-06) are notorious for having squealing belts that sound like a cat got caught under the hood. The alternator belt is the culprit. Don't waste your money on belt dressings because they won't work on this problem. If you decide to change out both belts on the XB be sure to have plenty of time and tools to give to the project since working under the hood of these early XB's can be a challenge to anyone who has hands larger than a seven year old girl. This Gates belt solved the squealing problem. I wouldn't be surprised to find out Gates supplies most of the belts used on Japanese vehicles since they are the best quality available.
