Have tried many other serpentine belts over the years to prevent/reduce squeaking and give confidence in durability. Had a vehicle that drive me nuts trying to get rid of a belt squeak (replaced tensioners, idler pulleys, A/C pulleys, etc and tried discontinued fancy "gator" belts with notches in the ridges, pulley alignments and nothing worked - what ended up working, oddly, was spraying 303 brand aerospace protectant on the belt - also, the typical belt squeak spray didn't work and made the problem worse. Thankfully that car is gone). So I don't think fancy belts, etc are necessary just quality ones. Recently had to replace the serpent belt on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and it's a PITA since they require you to remove wheel liner, remove/drain cooling ... who design this just for a belt? I ended up just replacing the pulley, tensioner, belt, and idler pull at same time as it would be a big Jon to do all over again if the belt alone didn't solve the squealing noise we were getting. I used ALL gates products and they worked perfectly, seemed like very good quality (better than OEM) and solved the squeak issue.So this is a 5 star review for Gates belts but wanted to convey how good all the other gates parts were that I installed.I have installed many different brands of tensioners, pulley, belts over the years on many cars and Gates is the best I have found. They are just made well. Will be using Gates from now on.
