Tore done my Tundra to install a timing belt and water pump kit. I went to put on the Gates water pump (which by the way is made in China) imagine that. The pump housing will not connect to the thermostat housing. Someone needs to check their molds over in China. I purchased a new one from Autozone and everything bolted right up. Now I have to fight with gates to get my money back. Don’t buy this kit. Get the Aisin or genuine Toyota. Save yourself a lot of trouble.

The Timing belt that came in the kit was not a Gates belt and I was lead to believe that the Gates belt would have had the timing mark's on it for the crank shaft and the camshafts. The belt that came in the " Gates " kit was from Toyota with no marks for the timing which made the installation a little harder for a back yard mechanic like myself.

Unless they upgrade the water pump gasket, I wouldn’t buy this at all.

I was waiting to do this review till I see how it was. I've had it on for around 4 months now and havnt had the first problem yet. Truck runs perfect. I bought this 2000 Toyota Tundra 5 months ago and the guy had already paid 1500$ have all this replaced and some AC work done. After I bought the truck it started a small miss fire. No check engine light or anything. I bought plugs and wires and that didnt change it. Finally it got so bad that wouldn't climb a hill. I took it to my dad's garage and last pulled the cam pulley covers off and rolled engine over to put it in time. The left bank had jumped time by 4 teeth. I didnt know what possibly couldve caused it. I ordered this kit and disassembled it all found had antifreeze dripping on the belt. Thermostat housing was broke so got another for about 100$ then put it all back together and havnt had anymore problems. This is a good kit and do recommend

Well it's hard to say how well this product will hold up since I've only gone about 2,000 miles on it. The product appears to be of quality. The tensioner that comes with the kit did seem a little cheap though good tension though serves its purpose the metal and plastic seems a bit inferior to oem. Pulleys are as good as factory, belt seems to be as good or close to factory. The water pump hard to say hasn't leaked yet. I wouldn't say the pumps quite as good as factory when you compare the two (plastic and metal seem a bit inferior to quality of factory one) it seems a bit less in quality but i do feel it will be fine and hold up. The water-pump gasket that came with the kit seems to be of quality no leaks just i would have liked it packaged (cardboard backing) instead of just thrown on top mine got a little squished and had to bend it a little bit. Overall i feel this product will hold up and for only 130 bucks can't beat it, better than spending 2k for Toyota to do it. Make sure you do your research before doing this task many special tools and hrs required for this job.
