The General Tire AltiMAX RT45 is a long-lasting, all-season touring tire for coupes, sedans, minivans, and crossovers that's backed by up to 75,000-miles of limited manufacturer tread life coverage. Offering drivers reliable braking on wet roads, the AltiMAX RT45 utilizes Generals' Replacement Tire Monitor which features letters in the tread that wear off to read "REPLACE TIRE" when the tire wears to 2/32 of tread depth, indicating a tire change is needed.

Let me start off by saying that the build, quality and ride of these tires is very good.I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS with 175k on it. I added 75k of those mile since about mid-June of 2023 to present. I live near the north-central Illinois / Wisconsin border and commute to Schaumburg, IL for work. Round trip that's 150 miles PER DAY and 95% of those miles are highway with cruise control locked @ 80MPH. After swapping out a set of Continental True Contact Tour All Season tires in mid-December of 2024 for these RT45s, I was shocked that I lost about 15-20% in fuel economy right out of the gate. The Continental True Contacts that I had on before I swapped in the new RT45s were almost down to 2/32s tread depth and certainly gave me their rated 65k worth of mileage. At 80mph, I would average around 36-38mpg solid with the Continental True Contacts. With the RT45s, that MPG plummeted to between 27-29mpg. I thought they just needed broken in so I gave them a few thousand miles to break in. After nearly 4000 miles, the 27-29mpg was stubbornly sticking and I knew that the tires were the problem. I bought the RT45s because they're rated at 75k miles and I needed as much life out of a tire as I can get with the distance I drive daily. But with losing that much MPG, I was refueling about 3 times a week as opposed to 2 times with my previous Continental tires. After reaching out to General Tire about the issue, they told me I was within the 45-day return period and, even though I bought them from Amazon, they refunded me 100% of my payment and had me go through partner Discount Tire to get a replacement in the General Tire brand of tires. Since the Continental True Contacts were no longer being made, they offered me the slightly more expensive Continental True Contact 54. My MPG has mostly returned to around 34-35mpg now after around 1.5k miles of use and I am back to refueling 2 times a week.I am not knocking General as a company or Tire brand as I had previously had RT43s in early October, 2016 and mid-October 2018 so I must have been happy enough to have bought those twice before. They honored their warranty and kept their promise so 5 stars for that and the warranty return process through Discount Tire. But these RT45s? I don't know if it's the tire formulation or what but I would avoid these for your 2013 Elantra GLS. I likely paid more in refueling my car in the 30 or so days I had them than it would have cost me to find the remaining set of reliable Continental True Contacts that might have been still out there for sale.Don't be lured by the 75k tread life warranty like I was because of my specific longevity needs. They just didn't work out well in my vehicle's case.

this is the second set we have purchased and take some rather long family trips - in excess of 2300 miles round trip. They have great dry and wet traction. I don't know that we ever made it to the end of the mileage warranty but they never seem wear early if that makes sense.

I replaced the worn-out OEM tires with these General Altimax RT 45 tires and couldn't be happier. They handle great. They aren't noisy. They grip the road in dry and wet conditions. I haven't been in any snow or ice yet so I cannot comment on how they react in those situations, but overall I am totally satisfied with these tires and the price was great too. Thanks
