with this genie 34538s close limit switch i was able to fix my 12 year old overhead door store Python 2 garage door opener that suddenly would only operate in the open mode and would not reverse - it was a direct / exact fit / match to the original one, just needed to re-use the screw as the new one does not come with one.

The right part and it works after installed. Would be better if it had included the set screw. I had to rob that part of it from the old limit switch. Also, it would have been better to include clips to hold wire in place on the top rail since this is the distant down limit switch.

The amazon description says "ML" series only and my instruction book says "Series GCG & PCG." I ordered this anyway based on information gleaned from other reviews and this is the perfect replacement part for my Genie opener.My model number (found on sticker on the garage door opener)is GCG 350 ML.GCG is the series, not ML. ML is part of the model number.The picture is wrong too! I will upload a photo of the actual unit, which is shaped more like 2 sides of a cube, not the stairstep shape shown. [have had unusual difficulties getting picture uploaded; as of today the thumbnail is visible but cannot be enlarged; sorry, this problem is on amazon's end]I was having trouble with my garage door not shutting all the way and opening itself after I had lowered it and driven away. Finally one day a brown wire along the chain rail snapped in two. At first I thought it was the wire to the safety sensors, but some investigation proved that the wire went to this little gadget on the rail. I learned that malfunctioning limit switches might be the source of my problem.After getting a quote of $190 for a garage door repairman to just come to my house, I hired my usual handyman to install this. It's not his area of expertise. I did the research and read instructions to him as needed and we muddled through fairly easily. I have a very old funky garage and door that has been jerry-rigged to allow the installation of the Genie. He could tell from a little indentation where the original limit switches had been placed and he installed the new ones in the same place, then it took one minor adjustment (hint: don't tighten the screw all the way till you test the placement).Since these parts are cheap, I ordered both the open and close limit switches and had him replace both. Door works great now. The switch does not come with a set screw so you will need to reuse the screw from your original limit switch.

Perfect fit now my door goes up and down again. The picture is actually the wrong one, but the item was right (looks like a C). The only bad thing was delivered 8 days past the date specified, But thats ok with me because my door now works. Easy to change took about 10 minutes.

Switch was original OEM with same part number as switch being replaced and the price with Prime $3.99 overnight shipping was still the cheapest I could find.I found it incredible that I placed the order the afternoon one day and got it the next day for the $3.99 Prime club overnight shipping.Our repair man was going to take several days to get the part for our garage door opener when I got it the next day and had it up and running the next day.

I was wary when I ordered this item, as the pictured item did not exactly look like the item I needed to replace. My limit switch has a metal bracket that is more or less just a 90 degree angle. However when I received the item it was exactly the same as the part I was replacing.Works like a charm, easy to install, and now my garage door is stopping itself again :)
