This one is advertised as a "Genuine GM" part - I don't know about that but it is much closer to Genuine than the last clearly cheap Chinese one I bought from another marketplace. It also seems to have the proper markings. The last one's spring was noticeably weaker than the OEM spring and the spring broke after a couple times opening and closing the hood right after I installed it. This one has been holding up well so far and appears of higher quality than the broken one it replaced - and all for roughly the same price. I'd say this is your best bet short of spending way too much money at a dealership for one.

I bought the aftermarket others pair and they both failed in a short time and where not as strong as Genuine GM for holding the hood up. For this part when your head or arm may be under the hood is worth the little more and be done with it for another 200,000 miles. Prop the hood up to relieve tension on spring and a quick easy change.
