About this item

  • Tamper-resistant receptacles with security shutters meet residential building codes, with trip thresholds (5mA+/-1mA) and response times (0.025 seconds) meeting Class A requirements
  • Terminals allow for easy wiring options - supports back and side wiring, no need to bend wires to wrap them around the screw, there is a plate under the screw, all you do is push the wire up under the plate and tighten the screw. No need to bend the wires into a u-shape.
  • The tamper-resistant design and screw-free wall plate increases the level of electrical safety by preventing attempts to insert objects into the outlet or open the plate, and it prevents children from using any foreign object from the outlet (TR) to access any moving part of the outlet. Stay away from electric shocks.
  • Test function that automatically tests the GFCI each time the reset button is pressed; if the GFCI circuit is not working properly, the receptacle will not reset properly; when connected incorrectly, the GFCI receptacle is not powered and cannot be reset, making it safer than other ordinary receptacles.
  • The receptacle is continuously protected against ground faults; preventing personal injury and the risk of electrical fires caused by ground faults, a must for home appliances
  • GFCI receptacles identify ground faults in the wiring and immediately cut off the current, protecting you from electric shock Made of heavy-duty, impact-resistant thermoplastic for durability and safety High quality components for long life

Wengart self-test GFCI receptacles are designed to protect against shocks to the electrical system. If there is a ground fault or any problem with the outlet, GFCI will trip and stop the current to prevent injury. Provides a simple, classic option for wiring devices, home automation controls and to coordinate with any decor. Made of heavy-duty, impact-resistant thermoplastic for durability and safety. Tamper-resistant shutters keep children from being electrocuted, making your home safer. The shutter mechanism inside the receptacle prevents contact with the contacts unless a two or three prong plug is inserted. We have repeatedly tested the performance of the GFCI to reassure users that the electric shock and short circuit prevention features function up to par. Specifications:

Wires for a GFI are too thick to go behind/under the screws on these GFCI sockets. When one removes the screw completely, it will not go back in the holes.

2 of 4 gfi did not work. Get the name brand from your local Home Depot or lowes because I had to wait and then they didn’t even work.

I had a GFCI outlet go bad recently in my garage. This was a perfect replacement. I'm not a pro electrician but the switch out was quick and easy. I like that it is 20 amps, some of the ones I have seen are only 15 amps.

Does the job, well at least I hope it does it's job. I know what it replaced wasn't doing the job. Does appear to have proper credentials, but I have a credentialed bedside table lamp wit a grounded outlet up top and a unpolarized plug below. Amazon, of course.

This is a standard GFCI outlet rated at 20 amp with a NEMA5-15 configuration. As with most of these devices, it takes a lot of room in the box. It has clamping type terminals which is nice. The photo shows a NEMA5-20 blade configuration, but that is not what I received. There is a rating of 20 amp molded in the plastic, but you cannot connect a 20 amp plug that has one blade perpendicular to the other. You may be able to connect two 15 amp devices that can draw 20 amps together, but usually a 20 amp outlet lets you connect a single device with a NEMA5-20 amp plug.
