I found a Sony Vaio laptop in a dumpster and found that it works when running WinXP. The laptop has a 44 pin HD connector and I wanted to run Puppy Linux from the HD. Puppy Linux runs great on the Laptop but the Sony BIOS won't boot from a USB thumbdrive. The CD drive is incredibly slow. I thought I'd load a PL boot to an SD card and run the card from the 44 pin connector. The BIOS does see the 64GB SD card that I have in this Adapter, but the Sony laptop won't boot at all with the adapter installed. I blame the laptop. The adapter does work if the laptop BIOS sees it.

Solder works needs to be cheked when you get these. One was so badly misaligned that the unit only works when plugged in at a severe angle. Cheap rushed soldering typical of many products that come from overseas. No quality control for obvious alignment errors- wonder what else is going to fail now?Product works for intended use but cheaply made and implemented.

Edit: It is very (electronically) noisy and I haven't found a way to quiet it down. The sound card picks it up and makes all kinds of noises. It looked like the thing had been stomped on and run over. Some of the pins were bend and sticking out through the bag, etc. But, it works!I am using this as the boot drive in an old Inspiron 5000E with Pentium 3 and Intel 440bx chipset, with a 32 gig sdcard. So far it works great."

Works as promised, even on an old laptop. Of course I had to use a small SD card (less than 3.0G for this model laptop). I didn't expect much, but it loaded up perfectly and boots up fine. Very happy.

Adapter działa zgodnie z przeznaczeniem, lecz tylko jeśli jest jedynym urządzeniem na kablu.Brak możliwości ustawienia priorytetu urządzenia i domyślna praca jako priorytetowe wyklucza go z niektórych zastosowań.

I bought plenty of these small adapters as they are really a lifesaver if you need to replace a IDE/PATA drive. Those can run forever with SD cards if you disable the OS write-cache, so you extend its lifespan.Works as fast as a SD speed but it is bottlenecked by the ATA-33 protocol, so can't go faster than that. Works like a charm

IT works but lacks any support for mounting and has nothing to protect the exposed pins on the bottom, not even a strip of tape. Will only work in cretin limited applications.

This product so far has exceeded my expectations!I've heard a lot of these adaptors limit you to 128gb, or even less in some cases. (depends on the controller used)But this one actually seems to support larger SD cards!I tested a 128gb full size sd card, and later a 4 year old (heavily used) 256 gb micro SD, and both worked fine with my USB adaptor, and the speed was pretty good for usb2.0 and the ide interface.I did a speed test with the micro sd (Pic 2) and I also did a read/verify test of over 60GB just to make sure the adaptor functioned properly, it passed both easily!I have yet to test this with any legacy hardware, so just be aware that some computer motherboard may not support drives this large, but it looks like the adaptor does! Also, I should note, that sometime when ordering from some sellers, they may sell multiple variants of a product with slightly different components, this product is IN NO WAY advertised to support a specific size sd card (or speed), so it's possible that yours may not work exactly the same as mine,But, I ordered from the seller "FONGQLONG" and I'm very happy with it.
