For a $260 top-of-the-line helmet, Giro really missed the mark on this. The design looks cool and overall quality seems good (hence more than 1 star), but the fit is horrible. The liner is too heavy and right out of the box you can see how the material bunches up around the temples. It turns out that underneath those bunchy areas, Giro had the fantastic idea of putting plastic pieces that arch RIGHT INTO YOUR TEMPLES causing immediate discomfort and headache from the moment I put this thing on, no matter how I adjusted it. I even ordered a second one just to make sure, and even had my wife try it on to double-check but she had the same issues and it's definitely a design flaw. Very disappointed. Totally not worth the cost. Do not buy.

It’s a decent helmet, but I wanted something for the spring days and it seems too warm with limited ventilation. Also, it may not be warm enough for the cold days as it’s ear flap is thin and flat: I guess it will let the wind in. I’ll never know as I sent it back. It has a nice color and the ski patrol insignia are nicely done. It also appears sturdy and safe. It’s pricey though.

After a weekend of skiing, I have to say I can't imagine a more comfortable helmet. When wearing it initially, I thought the chin strap fitted a little too close to my throat and there is no way to adjust it forward, but when I was on the slopes I didn't notice it at all. Even with a few falls, the helmet always stayed comfortably in place. Speaking of the chin strap, I've never used a magnetic clip before, but blind, one handed use was second nature after just a couple of tries. The padding inside the helmet was adequate to keep my head and ears warm in 15° weather + wind when standing around without anything under and the vents opened. I've used MIPS in bike helmets, and the spherical system in this one did not disappoint; it dialed in for a perfect fit! Most Giro helmets (bike and ski) tend to run a little small. I'm usually somewhere between a medium and large for most brands, and the medium worked well for the size and shape of my head (not sure why the heading for this review says I bought a small). Having the medium gave the added advantage of not feeling like I'm sliding down the mountain with a salad bowl on my head. This helmet is a little pricer than most, but I'm glad I invested the extra bucks!!

Created pressure points on on front corners of head, which means it fits more football shaped heads. My round head kept feeling the pressure points. Seems pretty light and warm overall.Tried Anon helmets, which fits better for round heads

I recently upgraded my ski helmet from a Giro Seam to this Grid MIPS for the additional safety and light weight. I like almost everything about the helmet except that it is so much colder than my Seam. Since 2013 my head or ears have never been cold until this first trip with the Grid. I'm wondering if maybe the advertised removable ear pads, which I can't seem to locate, were removed prior to my purchase. I've emailed Giro to see if there is a possible cure. Hopefully they will respond quickly before my 30 day return window expires. If not the helmet goes back!
