This is not multi layer kaizen foam. It’s the cheapest thing. 2 layers, the red layer and the black layer. The white markers are useless (just use a sharpie) and the foam cutter is hard to use, has a really short cord so it falls off the table and burns things,Smells terrible ( burning foam indoors is not a good idea), and the melted foam sticks to the hot cutter so you have to wipe it off half way through the cut.Use a sharp razor or x-acto style knife with a new blade for better results and no smell. If your budget allows, get higher quality foam than this product.I ordered it because it was cheap and in the specific size I needed; which left me with few alternatives.Markers are trashCutter is trash or dangerous.Foam works, I guess. 2.5 stars

Great purchase for the product just wish I had a second tip for the heat cutter.

The foam itself is good for thin/slim drawers. The included markers would have been useful if one didn't arrive completely dried out and the other didn't leak out all of it's juice. The hot wire cutter tool is so-so. It bends very easily so good luck cutting straight lines. Do yourself a favor and do the cutting outdoors so you're not hotboxing cancer fumes.

The black top foam isn't as easy to peel out as they make it look. But at least the video on the product page doesn't try and fool you; it actually shows that the black foam doesn't always come completely off. The heated cutter doesn't come with any instructions. The foam sticks to the metal of the cutter and dries onto it. I had to look up how to clean it off; a steel wool ball (like the kind you use to wash dishes) will get it off but you have to be careful not to touch the cutter. I tried removing the foam from the cutter when it had cooled off; it worked but it was much easier to clean it off when the cutter is still hot. In the end I only gave it 3 stars because the foam that's included just doesn't do the trick. I purchased a 1" sheet of foam separately, used the cutter to carve out out the marked off tools and then hot glued a neoprene sheet to the underside of it. This was MUCH more affective.

I like this product, just wish it came in larger sizes for my bigger tool chest. The heat pen actually works. Cut threw the foam like butter, just have a wad of steel wool nearby to clean off the molten plastic and keep things moving. It will stink so open a window. The pens are perfect, just the right length tip to trace all my tools out. That said, I did a few using the soldering tool then switched to a knife. If you dont want to go all the way through the material, use a utility knife set to the depth of the black foam, then carefully pry the black foam off with your fingers. It’s a much cleaner look. Best part, I know where everything is all the time and if something is missing. Perfect for the person always looking for a tool through multiple drawers.
