These saxophone reeds would work well for beginners. They aren't as consistent as some higher-end reeds I've used, but they are functional and would get the job done for a beginner player.

They’re an ok reed but do not have the usual smell/taste of others I’ve used. Sound quality was variable per reed. I will not be purchasing them again.

Initially, I was skeptical about the reeds because of one major issue. The wood was shredded and peeling from the top, sides, and back. I immediately observed this from opening the pack and pulling out one reed. Packaged nicely, but normally reed sizes are printed on the reed. These do not have the size at all. I typically play different sizes from 2-3, so I’d have to label the box myself as a reminder. The company label is also poorly placed on the reed. Other reed companies I’ve used have their name embossed/engraved/stamped etc. GKW uses what appears to be a label maker. The labels aren’t fully adhered to the reed and easily appear to be lifting off.However!!! To my surprise, the reed is durable. With the shredding and peeling, I thought surely it would break or crack easily. After soaking the reed, I tried to gently push and bend it to see if it had some “give”.I am absolutely impressed with it.Size 2 reeds are normally easy to crack at the top of the reed, but the GKW reed held on!!!!Very strong woody taste which isn’t a big deal, but took me back to my days of trying my first reed in middle school!After applying the reed to a mouthpiece and playing with my old Cannonball alto, I was also pleased to feel that it played smoothly. I thought the peeling would cut my lip some and thankfully it didn’t! I will likely play through these reeds. Hoping they can last a while. All in all, appearance plays into the rating! The durability is definitely what redeems this product!
