It seems today there aren’t enough toys that spark the imagination of children. The KU String Rope Launcher is a fantastic toy for imaginative play. My children have played with this rope thrower for just one week. In that time, they’ve trained our dog to run through the big swirling rope hoop. They’ve used it as a gun to knock down red solo cups. They’ve even used the black-light flashlight just to mess around and see what glows. The setup is very simple. Just lay the rope into the slot between the two miniature car tires, put the cover back on, then push the button. The black light “charges” the glowing rope which becomes brighter and brighter over time as the toy is used. Rope tangles are fairly easy to get out. Just pop off the cover, untangle, then reinstall. The only downside is that there’s a subtle electrical “burning” smell when it’s used. The smell reminded me of what slot-cars and other miniature motorized toys smell like. The smell went away very quickly, after only about 10 minutes of play.

At 76, I am on the high end of the age scale for this. I live in a retirement community, and this has been a great hit with the residents. The manufacturer's description and videos are accurate. The built-in light makes the entire string glow in the dark. It's fascinating to watch this in action, especially in the dark. It is rechargeable, and the USB-C recharging cable is supplied. No wall-wart supplied as most of us have many already. What's the youngest age that this is good for? That's up to you and your frustration level. The handle needs to be kept relatively straight as the string mainly works vertically. The string must be gently touched, or it will tangle in the handle. It is easily untangled by popping off the cover and rerouting the string. Toddler equals more tangles and frustration. Older child less tangles and less frustration. There is no mention of where to get a new string, and that may be a future problem, but it works great for now.

I was a little disappointed with the rope thrower. I have had several of these style of toys in the past and this one just doesn't cut the bill. It has a very weak motor and jams extremely easy. The whole purpose of these is to fling the string around and aim it a stuff and see how it reacts. As soon as you move to quick or hit something with this one, it coils up and jams. It is easy to clear a jam but you have to do it every few seconds. If you hold it still, it is ok, but I cant recommend this to anyone who doesn't want a static rope thrower.

Used it maybe 4 times and it broke. Garbage. Can't get the company to provide a return.

Nothing against the product on a hole, but once it gets tangled up the low quality string really rears its ugly head. You’re on the verge of destroying the fidget as you untangle the device. It’s definitely fun for kids, but expecting them not to touch the string causing a tangle is a bridge to far. Heck, I even touched it to see and I regretted it immediately. If you have a type A personality that can avoid disrupting the flow, then it’s definitely a lot of fun and mesmerizing in it’s own way.
