I was concerned that it wouldn't fit since I have one of the earliest versions of the daniel boone. Took the old one out and installed the new one and it was a perfect fit. Fired the grill up and it ran perfectly. Shipping was quick, as long as this igniter doesn't have any longevity issues, I would buy this again when it comes time to replace it.

When the original igniter started to rust and come loose it came in contact the the metal around the firebox and wound up shorting the control panel. The new ceramic version should not short out the same way.The installation was straight forward and simple. It works as well as the original.

The Ignitor Fits the 110V Daniele Boone GMG Grill as described. The Electrical contacts plug in as expected. These Ceramic Ignitors are supposed to last longer which is why I got this one. The metal retaining clip is no longer used with this style ignitor since the ignitor has the ceramic bulge around the middle. You have to install this ignitor from the Firebox side by sliding the wires in first. I recommend you use a vacuum from the Hopper side and then also Firebox side of the wire holder pipe where the old ignitor wires ran through the pipe to clear out all the old ignitor insulation and metal fragments before you install the new ignitor.

I got this in order to replace the lighter in my Daniel Boone, and it was the second time I’ve replaced the lighter (the first time was under warranty, so it was OEM lighter that go-around). I decided to go aftermarket, as the original versions didn’t seem to hold up that well and I was ready to try something else. The replacement was as easy as the original OEM style. I see some complaints that this lighter is too big, etc, but I honestly can’t see how unless they’re trying it in the wrong grill model. This one installed with no issues and shortly after I was firing up the grill without any problem. My second fear was around this lasting, as it seems like other reviews mentioned it worked once and never again, etc. All I can report on is my experience, and I’ve now had it for a couple months (at least), using my grill multiple times a week, and it’s still working like a champ. At this point I couldn’t ask for anything more than I got.

Description is misleading, this WILL NOT fit the Daniel Boone WiFi models, it's too wide. We ended up calling Green Mountain because after this one wouldn't fit or heat up, we ordered one from GMG online and, unfortunately, it ended up being the exact same one. I was skeptical when ordering online with GMG because it looked just like this one but hey, the website said it will fit, why not trust the manufacturer website, right? and we all know pictures are misleading and it was the only option with GMG site for all Daniel Boone models, very frustrating. I'm not impressed with the GMG websites anyhow so I should have known better. When we called GMG, the representative from GMG laughed after we told him we ordered from their website (we hadn't got the part in the mail from them yet but we had talked to a local GMG parts dealer and they said to call GMG right away) and he said it's still the wrong one and will send us a replacement that will fit. By that conversation and the reviews on this site, this must be a common problem. He said the one he's sending is slimmer then the one we bought. A waste of $40 between the two. Don't know if refunds are possible but between possible restocking fees and postage, it's not worth the time or money to return. If you have the GMG Daniel Boone WiFi, save yourself some time and JUST CALL GMG. They have a eight hundred number that ends with three three nine eight. I'd put the whole number but don't know if I can do that. I attached photos of my old one and the new one from GMG which is identical to the one from this site but is currently in the grill covered in pellets (I'll take it out when I get the correct part) otherwise I would have took a picture of all 3 together. Maybe I can sell the two new ones on ebay for a two for one deal. A week later after I wrote most of this review, I finally got the correct igniter from the GMG 800 # and the smoker works great and the igniter looks so different from this one. I forgot to take a picture before putting it in the grill because we were too excited after all the problems.

Some people here are complaining that this is not the same as the one that came in their grill...that's okay, this is the new ceramic version that works in the newer and older versions of the Daniel Boone and looks exactly like the one GMG sells on their website. You do have to install from the fire box and you don't have to re-use the clip or set screw...those were there just for shipping the smoker. Install takes maybe 5 minutes and it works perfectly.

I have a GMG Daniel Boone Prime which is the latest models with wifi. Installed this igniter and the grill would not heat up. I called Green Mountain Grills and they told me that this igniter isn't compatible with the Prime WIFI models. Sounds like it does work for the Non Prime models. FYI
