Goldtone is a pretty decent product. This banjo has a good bright tone. Presumably you can remove the back for claw hammer style but I haven't tried that yet. What I love is that it isn't too heavy for a senior citizen to hold. This is my second Goldtone. The first had rich tone but was tooo heavy.
