This is an awesome tool. I've been stamping metal jewelry by hand with a hammer and this is so much better! Good quality and sturdy.

Waited too long to try this out. Return window has passed but I would definitely return. Does not stamp evenly. Not enough pressure to make even stamp.

I was very excited to order this product as I have an online jewelry shop and was looking to expand into other styles of jewelry. This product, if it works as intended, would have been an excellent tool to have. It's also a very visually attractive item and is a good shade of green, and I thought the fact that it included all the letters of the alphabet and most of the numbers was a great deal.HOWEVER, I feel like this tool wasn't refined all the way through or tested by the manufacturer/seller, and that makes it disappointing. The listing clearly says that it can stamp and mark brass, but when I inserted a gold plated brass blank and attempted to stamp letters on it, it barely made a mark with some letters, despite me putting all my strength into pressing the handle down. I made multiple attempts and felt that some letters made more of an impact than others, but even so, whatever marks I was making looked superficial and relatively light with a very thin imprint, and just didn't look great or what you would expect from stamping. There is either an issue with the design of the handle/tool itself where the imprints just won't be strong enough, or the stamps that are included with the item aren't properly designed, OR perhaps this item is not meant to stamp brass and can only do softer metals. Whatever the issue(s) are, the listing is misleading because it promises you that it can stamp brass.I also felt that the instructions were a bit sparse, and don't really tell you what to do with the fact that the stamps are all oily as received - I was put off by this as well. This would have been a very promising item had it worked according to what was promised in the listing, but because it does not, I would advise anyone looking to stamp metal jewelry to just buy an arbor press and add a metal stamping attachment.

I have only been able to test this machine on cardboard since I don't have aluminum blanks to test on yet. The process is the same though and aluminum is quite soft. The press will work quite easily on aluminum I'm sure. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to make marks on the cardboard so making marks on aluminum should be simple. The included directions are not really necessary but they are helpful if you have never operated something like this machine. It's an easy to use machine. The first couple of times trying to get your letter or number into the machine is a challenge but with a little bit of practice it gets easier. The stamping bits come with oil on them so be prepared with a rag handy to wipe your hands during use. This is normal to keep the bits from getting rusty. (I don't know that they are called "bits" it just makes sense.)The only thing that would be an improvement would be to include symbols, especially /, -, ., etc. When stamping numbers it's usually for a date and I need a line between the month and year, for example. Now I need to buy a set of bits that are just symbols (that may not fit this machine) just to stamp that part. I won't deduct a star since the description clearly does not include symbols. If I run into a problem using this on aluminum I will update this review but I do not expect any problems.

The handle is heavy and when you press down only half the letter appears.

I’ve been an avid jewelry maker for a couple years now and I was excited to start practicing stamping my pieces. This is well built, and sturdy. Setup was simple enough and for me being a beginner it’s the right size. Obviously a learning curve but once you get it this is definitely the right toolTo have.

I have tried metal stamping before and had so-so results. I was excited to try this because I felt like it would be more consistent. But instead, I found it wasn't as helpful in all the ways I'd hoped.First off, it's kinda awkward. You have to slide the base out to insert the stamp. The stamp just slide up into the piece, but there's no lock, latch, catch, or anything. It just kinda sits there. Then you slide the base back into place. Here's where it starts getting harder. There's no definitive way to see where exactly your stamp is going to go. You have to just lower it slowly and try your best to figure out where it's going to land before you press hard. There's no real guide. Then, if you're doing more than one letter, you have to slide the base out, take the stamp out, slide in a new stamp, and then slide the base back in again. Which means, you have to start all over trying to line things up again! It would be so much better if you could put the metal stamps in somehow without having to move the base every time. It would be faster and it also would be easier to keep track of where your stamp is going to impress.I did get a good stamp out of it, but when I tried to add the next letter, I struggled to get the placement right. The handle is easy enough to press down on and if you really give it a good press, it does make a nice impression in aluminum. (Better than one strike with a hammer for sure.) So if you want to just put ONE stamp on an item, it would be great. Start getting into multiple characters or words and it's going to be harder to keep looking neat.Nice idea, but definitely some flaws with the ease of usage.

Great machine for your DIY jewelry tags! Tested it by stamping my dogs name tag, everything came out great, clear letter stampings, sturdy stamp plate. Very happy with my purchase!
