This hose reel does everything I could want. I recommend it for the home or small shop environment. The hose stays flexible in cold weather and the reel latches and un-latches very well. One can pull the hose from the front or the sides.

This is exactly what I was looking for. The ratchet action is heavy, heavy duty. Very predictable and easy to lock in place and release. No guessing if it will catch or retract. When it does retract, it has more than ample pull and wraps around the reel in a very organized way. The double support arm construction is the way to go. Very solid and easy to mount.

I love just about everything about it. My singular complaint is the difficulty getting it to lock when pulling more length after the initial pull and lock. For example I pull 10' then pass it through my porch rail. Then I go around and pull my total required length. At that point I effectively have to quickly reel and unreal a foot or so of hose and hope it eventually locks.

This product is very sturdy and seems to be of high quality. My problem is with the instructions, which are very brief and don't offer many details, and with the position of the guide arms. I have wall mounted the reel, but as you can see from the picture this means that the hose is pointing down, and pulling it out will put a lot of pressure on the hose guide bracket rollers, even if I reposition the hose guide. In the photos of the product on Amazon's website, the arms are 90 degrees to how the reel actually arrived in the box, which would be fine if I was going to floor mount it. The manual makes no mention of removing and rotating the arms to another position, and to do so would mean removing 8 screws and nuts, some of which would be very difficult to get back in place. I'm assuming that the reel I received was incorrectly assembled, with the arm 90 degrees out of position. I believe that most people will want to wall mount the reel as I did, and the position of the arms makes using it difficult. I hope to get an answer as to whether the arms can be moved to the proper position.Update: I was able to remove and reposition the guide arms by removing 8 screws, 4 on each side. I then repositioned the arms 90 degrees to the "correct" position, at least for being wall mounted. It wasn't easy, so be prepared for the frustrating task of getting the nuts back on the screws, with very little room to work. In the end, I'm very happy with the hose reel.

Probably would be an exceptional retractable reel. The delivery from afar is where the failure is. The origin was in Las Vegas, and destination was Ontario, Canada. It took a few weeks for delivery. when I received it from the truck it was upside down because the bottom was opened. It seems like it may have fallen out of the bottom and dented like in the pics. Then banged around. It was only cosmetically damaged which may be fine for some but not for me. It cost me $107 CAD for return postage. ( which Amazon promises to reimburse, hope they do...).

I try to buy products made in the U.S. whenever possible, and with the Goodyear name on it I assumed that it was. Looks like Goodyear sold the rights to their name to a Chinese company on this product. Not to say it's not heavy duty, it has worked great since I installed it, but I personally would not have bought it if I had found an American one first. I say if an American company sends it products overseas to be manufactured, then let that country purchase them, don't bring them back here and expect the workers you laid off to buy them. This is only my opinion. NOW, WITH THAT SAID- Great Circle USA, the distributor of the reel, went above and beyond to rectify a cosmetic flaw I had with the hose, and they were a great company to work with. I sent them a few pictures of the hose, and they corrected the problem beyond my satisfaction in a timely manner. So much so, that I intend to visit their website and purchase more from them in the future. I'm still totally satisfied with the reel, I've used it almost daily for months now.

I mounted this on the ceiling. I have access to the attic above my garage and hung this off a 2x10 resting on the rafters. I'm relatively handy but had trouble getting this thing mounted. It's heavy! Also, while moving the guide arms to the correct orientation for ceiling mounting, I dropped the whole thing from about 4 feet onto concrete. One of the walls on the reel bent. It was really difficult to bend back, but it only has a slight wobble now.Anyway, aside from my mistakes during installation this is a really solid product which should last forever.One tip from someone who struggled through it, when reinstalling the screws for the guide arms (I got the model with arms on both sides), if you find yourself struggling to squeeze your fingers into the gap, just know that you can push against the reel and it'll move inwards giving you more room. That would have saved me about 30 minutes and multiple dropped screws.

Just got it and started to use it. So far so good. This unit is very solid and well built. Rachet mechanism works well and plenty of room on the reel. I didn't want a cheap one but didn't want to spen $800 on one either. This fill the bill and keeps the hose off the ground. Highly recomend. I'll be sure to let you know if it breaks within a year.
