The design is inspired by steel plate floors of the early 20th century, complete with a diamond pattern of thin, alternating protrusions. Traditional steel plate flooring is not often seen in the modern day due to impracticality, but the industrial aesthetic remains popular in a variety of industries. Very nice mat. I specifically didn't want a PVC mat with plasticizers but instead wound up with a nice TPU rubber mat that has curative odors and smells strong like tires. Left it outside in the sun for two afternoons and in the garage 2 nights. Still smells really strong. Dear wife can't bear to go into the basement with it so it's back outside. I like the mat otherwise and hope the odor goes away but unfortunately some amine curatives have very low odor thresholds. Not all TPU curatives smell so bad .. this needs to be reformulated to be less stinky.
