This nock has an index nock for aligning the cock feather to the arrow shaft to insure proper flight of the arrow when shot from a traditional bow.
The throat of the nock is designed to hold onto the string until the last possible moment before releasing the arrow from the bow and insuring that the Archer will not have a dry fire from the bow and is used from the beginner to the expert archer.

I have had the same wooden arrows for several years now. Every now and then I'll nail a rock. If the arrow and tip survive, it's usually the nock that catches all the momentum and gets blown away. These were clutch, and at a great price, to get my arrows up and running again. Get yourself some proper hot glue for install, not just super glue.
