(An axe with an ordinary straight poll with sharper corners can easily damage the hide.) The grip of the handle has circular grooves which give a steady grip even if your hands are wet or sticky. The Gränsfors Hunter’s Axe is a winner of the Excellent Swedish Design award.

There's something about a simple, well made tool. Especially when the tool is a hammer or an axe, which logic tells us must have been the first hafted implements designed by Human Kind.As a tool-using primate, when I hold or use such a thing, I feel a connection to those who lived an astonishingly long time before...This axe, by Gransfors Bruk, is such an implement. Beautiful, well made and balanced, it fits my hand like it belongs these; and it does.Highly recommended!

The quality of the axe is what you would expect from Gransfors Bruk.Very similar to the SMF, with different head shape, a little bit more narrow at the cheeks. For me, it's the merge between SMF and a Tomahawk.Right size for camping chores but hefty enough to cut down a tree if necessary.Remember it's a ”hand made ” tool so you may expect some minor esthetic glitches. Never the less, the point on having one of these axes is to make them yours.Use it every time I can and always sharper than before, at least it feels like that to me.

Such a beautiful axe. Bites super deep, and gets the job done. It comes sharp, but does have some un-evenly ground spots... a simple sharpening stone will take care of that though. And that doesn’t hurt my review too badly, because you need to know how to sharpen your tool, and I usually sharpen my tools when I get them anyways, so it doesn’t hurt me. All in all a great tool

My axe was delivered quickly and I am impressed with the quality and weight. It feels nicely in my hand and as a carpenter of over 40 years, it swings nicely. I look forward to using it on outdoor adventures.

All of the other 5 star reviews did this justice, my review is more of a rebuttal to the one bad review this incredible tool has. The lower half of the handle is supposed to be rougher than the upper half. It is grooved intentionally to help with your grip when your hands are wet or bloody. It is unfortunate to me that people don't research a product sufficiently before writing a bad review for it. Bottom line, it is a great axe or hatchet or whatever you want to call it. It is intelligently designed and I would recommend it to anybody who wants a top of the line hunting axe.

Really like this little axe. It is light enough to pack easily in backpack or on the belt but big enough to get 2 hands on for some serious chopping. Came to me in perfect condition...best finish on the edge of any axe I have ever purchased. Used it last weekend on a backpack trip. We camped where the only wood available was some dried oak...it was rock hard and yet this little axe and some elbo grease got us enough firewood to cook supper. Chopping and batton splitting 4-6 inch dried oak...now thats something!
