Does need a separate power adaptor same kind used for laptop, not included. Does not run off the 48V spindle input like some other board. I do like the board. Had to change some of the settings. However, if I had notice that the limit switch connector were not JST I would have past. They are Dupont 2.54mm....All other connectors are JST what the hell?? I don't like Dupont connectors had they feel wobbly and unsecured. I had to re-crimp all limit switch to plug them onto the board.

I upgraded the stepper motors on my 3018-Pro as I moved to a much larger spindle and mount which the stock ones could not handle well. With the new motors I also needed better steppers and I felt this board was the best bet as it was the closest to the original controller. It was pretty much plug-n-play after transferring a few grbl configs over to it.Unfortunately, the first board I ordered the X-axis limit switch pins didn't work which resulted in the carriage absolutely crushing the poor limit switch during a homing cycle. However I did get a replacement and the second board works perfectly so far. I'm using the BIGTREETECH TMC2209 steppers for the larger motors and they've got some HP behind them now. Just a heads up, the original controller I had used JST-XH connectors for the limit switches, but this uses DuPont connectors instead. Wasn't terrible, but was a little annoying to have to re-crimp all those wires.Another minor inconvenience is that this does not come with a case or fan. I went ahead an designed one with a fan mount sent it over to the 3d printer and it's working well enough so far. I put the model up on printables if anyone is interested in it.One other minor note - there is no emergency stop switch (from what I could tell) which makes me a little sad. I'll probably end up building a circuit to handle the PSU and spindle with relays and hook that up to a estop.

Sorry did not work. Had to send it back. Tired of having to trouble shoot half the items I order.

Out of the box, this controller didn't work at all in LightBurn, but with a bit of troubleshooting, I was able to get it 100% functional with the Comgrow Z1 10W laser engraver. I had to:Rewired the limit switches for "NO" (Was previously "NC", tripping up the controller in lightburn; constant hard breaks)Uploaded GRBL 1.1H (Custom) fromware from lasergrbl which is one of the firmwares offered in lasergrbl. This gained the ability to "Home", like homing on controller startup or when the homing button was clicked in LightBurn. The controller appears to contain an earlier version of 1.1, which does not have homing functionality.I did have some trouble using the existing connectors on the Comgrow Z1, I had to use special jumper wires to get the connections correct (In particular, with the limit switches and the PWM wave signal to the laser). I powered the laser directly from a 12V 30A supply because the laser is rated at 80w, and this controller is rated for 60w. Works great.

Works fine for the motors, had issues with Probe, Limit Switches and Spindle. Also would be good with a dust cover and fan.

Like the fact that this controller still uses the independent H-Bridges (L298N), makes replacement of failed modules economical instead of replacing entire board
