Very flimsy belt system, not what I expected for the price and hard to keep the belt tracking straight.

It gets four stars _for the price_. Definitely an aspect of "you get what you pay for" and I have thoughts of (A) would the $55-more-machine be worth it and (B) should I have kept my bench grinder and gotten a disc/belt 4x36 machine for less money. It works. I can work around every issue just fine. I'm going to make my own belts, to get grits finer than they sell, etc. etc.Problems: First, the screws/washers/instructions for the tool rests / spark guards / etc. - well, they were all there. I was able to figure it out. But a bit sketchy, both on the packaging and the instructions. Second, a LOT of things needed to be "adjusted" by "bending" with a "vise grip". Both tool rests were far far from square. The belt alignment / tension stuff - there is an interplay between them that is just _wrong_, if you have the tensioning knob loose at all, it affects the alignment, but, if it is all the way tight, the aligner can't be loose enough to align. That is the third thing that was fine... after I "bent" it some. Pushed hard on roller, now it works OK.Basically, Everything is _fine_ and _works_.The motor _is_ a bit "weak" seeming on startup especially - if the belt gets jammed to one side, it can't "pull it going again".But... again... once I bent the roller/tensioner a bit, bent both tool rests... etc...It works fine.Noisier than just a bench grinder. Worried I'll forget about the grinding wheel when I'm using the sander. Maybe I should have gotten a separate sander. But where to put it? It is a good combination for sharpening - I put a 150 grit belt on, and ordered some special tape for making my own belts, it is really workable to use a coarse grit belt to make the angle on a chisel, then hollow grind it on the wheel, then touch up the sharpness on the belt with a finer grit, then go to a stone - I like the _idea_ of this tool.If this tool were 99 bucks, I would give it 5 stars. If it were 200 bucks, I would have just gotten the other one. For what it costs? Well, I do think it should be 99 bucks. For what it is. The metal is too soft and sketchy in places, the setup required too much "yah, I can bend this a bit". But... well.... it was 60 bucks cheaper than the nearest competitor... and... it works ok...

I ordered this item and it arrived within the time predicted.Upon using the sander I noticed that the bottom wheel kept tracking to the inside and there's no way to adjust it. I contacted Grizzly and one of their technicians told me that it was a defective unit and needed to be returned. No big deal. It happens. BUT...Grizzly wouldn't deal with it because I had purchased it from Amazon. So even though I live about a mile from a retail outlet (they didn't have this model stocked) and I was willing to just let them repair, replace or refund according to whatever fit their needs, they wouldn't help me. That's frustrating, but whatever... EXCEPT...Amazon couldn't replace it, they said, until february. I was okay with that. A little annoyed maybe, but not a huge thing. Its not like I was going to save the world with this sander. The work I had for it could wait until february. THEN....I got an email from Amazon saying the estimated ship date was anywhere from february to august. I waited until may, then I canceled my order.I'm not sure where all things went wrong with this order. I order things through amazon all the time and I've never had a negative experience until this order. It seems to be a fluke. At least I hope so...

I got this and assembled it . I noticed right away that the bolts were very cheap. Then, I put a new belt on it and I could not get it to adjust correctly. I am sending it back for that reason. Not worth the $110 I paid for it.

I've used this only once and it performed fine. Seems to have plenty of power and the sanding beltice stayed on track nicely. Looks nice, too, if that's a consideration.
