If you like a B-I-G 1st Base Mitt, here it is; The Guerrero RL-35 First Base Mitt is a 14-inch WHOPPER! This mitt is another in the long line of quality Guerrero hand-crafted mitts. The scoop on this mitt is enormous and wraps that softball completely. This mitt is awesome for reaching that tough throw and locking it away for the out.

My son plays first base and needed a new glove due to him growing like a weed. I had gotten 3 other gloves but they didn't fit right. But thus one is a great fit and made really well.

I have a large hand. It's not huge but about 9.5 in, so I wanted to maximize my first baseman's mitt for slow pitch softball. Most recommendations for first base mitt size are anywhere from 12 to 13 in, so there's not very many 14' on the market.I bought this one and it's extremely stiff as noted in other reviews, and I concur it's very very stiff. I also received black in color when I thought I ordered brown which is how it's pictured.I returned it.In my opinion when I put it on, I felt I would definitely gain a little bit of size but I felt it was just a tad too big and felt I would lose control. That extra inch when you grip the the glove closed did make a big difference to me.So in my opinion it kind of defeats the purpose. I guess that's why 13' is the largest they recommend.I wound up getting a Rawlings GG 13 elite on sale for $139 and it sounds like a cliche but it fits like a glove. I definitely feel more control catching the ball. If you have a really big hand it's worth a try, you can always return it.

I haven’t played a game with it yet but I have passed with it and it’s game ready after only a few days of break in work. Wet the mitt thoroughly with warm water, work the mitt until you’re tired, use a mallet to form the pocket, hit the mitt with a heavy hammer, then place a ball in the pocket and bind the mitt with rope or some other object. They sell break in kits on Amazon and there are instructional videos on YouTube that are very helpful. If you’re looking for a mitt for softball this is it. I think a baseball mitt (12.5”) would be too small. I’ll revise this review after I play a few games with it if I have any problems.UpdateFirst game played with this mitt last night. This thing is awesome. Very glad I made this purchase.

Softballs are stupid big. So for me, the glove needs to be big, too. This is the biggest first base glove I could find and it does the job. It swallows those balls with no issue. It says it is 14 inches but I have a couple other 14 inch fb gloves and this is noticeably bigger. The leather is VERY stiff upon delivery. I did two hot water break-ins to get it game ready. You need a strong arm to keep it up. I’m used to lighter leathers and this thing is like holding a dumb bell. Is that a bad thing? That’s up to the user. I am getting used to it and will likely use it for practice and scrimmage more than games.Put in the work to make this glove work for you, and you should be satisfied.

If you love the smell of leather, you’ll love this glove. Great quality, huge glove for slow pitch softball. Breaking in is tough but you need to be patient. I used Nokona glove ointment and put a dab in pocket and work it in. Turning glove inside outside leaving it like that for 2 days will loosen the glove up will break glove in as well. Put a ball in pocket and get a Rawlings glove wrap and leaving it there when not in use. Make sure you play catch with the glove and you’ll be ready in time. Great purchase for me! Be safe and thank you.

This is a high quality glove. It will take time to break it in. Very stiff at first. Would recommend the break in service they offer

I have owned more gloves than I can remember and I have no reason to think that the Guerrero will not be a good one. Breaking in a glove is an important first step in preparing to use it, and there are countless ways to do that. Some good, some less so. The Guerrero seems to be made of an especially rigid and stiff leather. It will undoubtedly take much longer to get ready for game use but that is not a reason I would not purchase the glove again if it proves to be a good one. Looking forward to the following season when I hope it will be ready.

I play both baseball and slow pitch softball. I have primarily been a First Baseman for many years and I pride myself in having great footwork and being able so scoop a lot of bad throws on the dirt... which seemed a lot easier with baseballs and with softballs due to the size relation between balls and glove. When my regular SB glove was dying I decided to use a 1b mitt for SB too, but did not want to ruin the pocket of my excellent Omaha TPX baseball mitt, so I set out to look for another mitt for SB. I actually purchased THREE different models and none of them seem to have the proper size and pocket for the twice as large softballs. And then I found the Guerrero Mitt on Amazon and took a flier on it (after selling or taking back the other three mitss). This Mitt is first class: excellent leather (smells great) giant pocket, like a Jai-a-lai basket, and good sides to help guide the ball to the pocket. I am now scooping softball almost as well as baseballs. The only thing is, this is some serious letter and the break-in while take a lot work. I ended up (not my first choice) taking it to as sporting goods store for light steaming which helped, and spent a good amount of tokes catching fast pitch softball as a local batting cage and I am still working on it, but at least I can now use it at game time.So if you are looking for a real softball 1b Mitt, this is the one! Play ball!
