Greasing Mower Spindles
- Greasing your mower spindle depends on the usage. The more you use it, the more grease it needs. If you are an average user, you need to grease your mower spindles at least once a month.
- This will lubricate the interior moving parts in the mower. Keeping the internal parts well lubricated extends the life of the mower.
- The amount of grease needed for your mower spindles also depends on how you use it. For personal mowing, it can be sufficient to grease them two times in a mowing season.
- If you are a commercial mower, you should grease the mower spindle daily. This is because you spend many hours using it and it might get destroyed easily if it doesn’t get enough lubrication.
- Keep in mind that mower spindles have large cavities that need enough lubrication. It would be best to grease the spindles until grease can be seen coming out of the weep hole at their base.
- There are grease fittings on each spindle. They are called zerk fittings. You can grease them easily without removing other parts.
- Remember to change the oil when the lawn-mowing season is over. Changing oil is also crucial as it makes the mower last longer.
- Failing to change the oil leads to oil deposits settling on the engine. You might also want to add fresh gasoline and maintain the blade as part of the maintenance process.

Good hardware, smooth and quiet, so far so good. Took about 25 pumps on my grease gun to fill them up until I heard a little bit of grease get past a seal.The threaded portion isn't quite long enough to use the original spring washer and nut to hold on the blade but the provided flange nut works just fine.Don't forget to point the grease fittings toward the belt guide openings when you install them or you'll have to remove the guides to grease the spindles.

This replacement spindle appears to be built of quality materials and was easy to install, just remove the old bolts and bolt in the new part, only took about ten minutes total, I’m happy with the purchase and it was a lot less expensive than the dealer’s price

Came with all parts and bolts thank you! I bought 1 of these Fourtry brand Spindles for a broken original E130 John Deere Spindle about 2 years ago. Installed then and it's still going strong 2 years later! Considering 1 of my ORIGINAL JD Spindles only lasted 2 years, this is a good. With leaves hiding thick branches sometimes, I just ran through some 2-3" branches on the ground a few times and no damage. Bought these 2 as backups just incase the original JD one goes as it's been on 4 years. There is grease in them, but I put more until it oozed out so there is room for more grease and would suggest doing that to ANY brand before you install them. I would recommend these from experience.
