About this item

  • Improved Image:The CPL filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizing filter arranges and filters directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
  • Ultra Slim: To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, the glass includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coating. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.
  • Circular Polarizer:Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features. 2.5x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.3 stops.
  • Optics Glass:This polarising filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring that can be rotated in order to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.
  • Easy Installation:The filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun. 58mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.Top knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

I had a CPL filter for my normal lens, but I've been using a telephoto almost exclusively of late and decided to get one for this lens. I haven't tried to use its features extensively, but on those occasions when I did so it did what I expected.

I'm using this CPL filter with a Fuji XT1, and it works great, especially for the price. The quality of the polarization is good, and significantly improves the shots that I take around water (or where there are reflections).

i recently upgraded to a "real" camera, a Sony A7 IV vs. my previous model which was an original RX-10 all-in-one zoom. On my old camera, I had a B+W circular polarizer which worked great, but the size was not the same as my new Tamron 28-200 E-mount lens. I do have some recurring shooting situations where I have to deal with glare/bright sunlight, so thought I would give this brand a try. This filter perfectly fit my Tamron lens. It went on easy and stayed in place after finger-tightening. The polarizer is easy to use, you simply turn the outer disc clockwise (if facing the lens, counter-clockwise if you're behind the lens) to enable/disable the polarization. As far as clarity, I found no discernible issues when comparing with/without the filter in place. The quality of the polarization is great. Subjectively, I feel like my old B+W had slightly more 'pop' but since there are so many variables between the old camera setup and new, it is hard to say whether that is the filter, the sensor, or some other camera setting (obviously, as a more serious camera the A7 IV can be 'fine-tuned' a great deal more by the user than the RX-10). I do miss the metal ring on the B+W filter, however, the Haida is significantly less expensive.

First off, it does everything a CPL is supposed to do, and does it very well. Far better than many others I have owned. Reflections in water all but completely vanish, and the deep blue in the sky can be brought out in the right conditions. The ring has enough friction to hold the rotation in place, yet remains butter smooth. The glass itself has the tell-tale green reflection on it showing that it's optically coated. And it just looks gorgeous. It's at doing its job very as a polarizing filter, but is it going to destroy my image quality? That's the real difference between a good filter and a bad one. It hit all the good points so far, but what I really wanted to know is if I can actually use it when I'm looking for a quality image. Light goes through every piece of glass between your subject and your sensor, and is only as good as the weakest link. Bad filters will wreck image quality.I tried the filter out on an old radio I have with some fine details. Photos are with and without the filter. I took three of each and selected the best of each to compare. In this case, no noticeable difference is exactly what I was hoping for, especially in sharpness. These two shots are 100% crops, one with and one without the filter. There is absolutely no noticeable loss in detail between the two, even when you get down and really dig into the pixels. I'm impressed! Very high quality. The images posted were taken at 70mm, at F/8. I did similar checks at F/2.8, F/4, and F/5.6 and they all showed essentially perfect results. I used ETTL lighting with a speedlight due to the ND aspect of the filter while switching back and forth between filtered and non-filtered, so the exposure is ever so slightly different between shots. I'm not sure what Amazon's image processing is going to do with resolution, quality settings or compression with these images, but I'll post them anyway.Something to know: Always rotate the filter in the tightening direction, especially as this one does have a little bit of friction to it. That way you don't accidentally unscrew the filter from your lens and drop it onto rocks. Don't ask me how I know. Thankfully I haven't done that with THIS filter.Does what it's supposed to do, and well. Very high quality build and materials. Optically as perfect as I can measure. Excellent filter, very happy.

I have several Haida filters and have no issues recommending the brand. This CPL filter does what it is supposed to do; cut down on reflections when rotated correctly, and increase contrast with subjects against the sky. I noted that this particular filter has a tendency to increase the appearance of lens flare as you can see in my first picture. All filters will increase the prevalence of lens flare, but the better quality the filter, the less you will notice flare vs a lower quality filter. This is an inexpensive filter, I expected no miracles. This is why I still rate the filter 5/5. I just want other buyers to know that this filter will increase the possibility of flare. My second picture is with this filter rotated to provide good contrast of the clouds vs the sky. This is why we use CPL filters like this. It works as it should. My third picture is has the filter rotated to where it does not provide the additional contrast. It’s still on the lens, but not optimally adjusted. The mechanics of the filter are very good. It threads on my various lenses that take 67mm filters fine, it does not get stuck when hand tightened. The polarizer adjusts with minimal effort, but does stay in its place well. The adjustment has a good feel to it too. This is a very nice CPL filter for the price. Additionally, it’s made by a manufacturer that I have come to trust. I highly recommend it. Just do keep in mind it will attribute to flare when the light source is in or just off frame (as do most filters.)
