The shorts have some stretch and are actually pretty comfortable and flattering. I did take off the belt because it looks awkward and has a weird clasp.

The shorts fit true to size and the length is just right for me. I like how flat the belt buckle sits, it hardly shows under a shirt. The fabric feels nice on my skin, it is smooth and light weight and is perfect for the hot humid climate I live in.

TL;DR: Solid 4/5 stars for these Haimont hiking shorts that deliver on comfort with their loose-but-not-baggy fit and 4-way stretch fabric. Made from 95% recycled polyester with UPF 50+ protection and quick-dry properties. Three zippered pockets provide secure storage, though the included belt feels cheap. Good size accuracy - Large fits well for 5'8", 150lb frame. Worth the purchase despite minor shortcomings.Fit & ComfortThe standout feature is definitely the fit - perfectly loose without entering baggy territory. As someone 5'8" and 150lbs, the size Large fits just right. The 4-way stretch fabric (95% recycled polyester, 5% spandex) moves with you rather than against you, which is crucial when navigating varied terrain. The side split design enhances mobility and prevents that uncomfortable binding feeling common with less thoughtfully designed shorts.Practical FeaturesThe three zippered pockets (two side, one back) are genuinely useful for securing essentials - my phone, keys and cards stay put even during active movement. The UPF 50+ protection is a significant plus for longer outdoor excursions, providing peace of mind when exposed to the sun for extended periods.PerformanceThe quick-dry and moisture-wicking capabilities live up to their promise. After working up a sweat on a steeper section of trail, the shorts dried remarkably quickly and didn't develop that clammy feeling that can make hiking uncomfortable. The water-resistance also came in handy during a brief rain shower.Room for ImprovementWhile the shorts themselves feel substantial, the included black belt falls short in quality - it has a distinctly cheap feel that doesn't match the overall quality of the garment. It's functional but feels like an afterthought in an otherwise well-designed product.Final ThoughtsFor hikers, travelers, and outdoor enthusiasts looking for versatile shorts, these Haimont hiking shorts deliver excellent value. They're comfortable enough for all-day wear yet technical enough for serious outdoor activities. The recycled materials add eco-friendly appeal without compromising performance. While the belt could use an upgrade, it's a minor issue in an otherwise solid product that performs when and where it counts.

There are a lot of things I like about these shorts:Comfortable materialnice stretchwick waterBut there are a couple of irritating things as well. The belt was uncomfortable and was removed immediatelythe small, small button at the waist keeps unsnappingultimately, I really like the shorts, but some of the design elements are really off. I think they included the belt because the button at the waist is ridiculously weak. All in all, I recommend them, but they could have been made better.

Super comfortable shorts! There's no liner, so they're very lightweight and breathable. Length is good, width on the leg is good. The waist has a comfortable stretch to it, and you can tighten it down with an easily adjustable belt. If I could make one improvement, I'd want the logo to be colored the same color as the shorts so it's not as noticeable -- it's a little large and bright -- but these are hiking shorts, so that's a small detail! These are great and don't bunch up when you walk.

We live in climate that gets in the 90's for months. Breathable quick-dry shorts are the way to go for comfort. I'm really pleased with these. They are well-constructed, the pockets are pretty deep - large enough for a phone in the front or back zip pockets. The waist is stretchy, so forgiving and comfortable. I am 5'3", and measure 29.5" waist and 39" hip .I usually wear a 10 or medium. I went with the size medium, and they fit well. Not tight but form fitting with a little room to spare. The shorts extend a little beyond my fingertips - a perfect length in my opinion. The deep navy is so versatile....it matches so much. The belt is a little wonky - there is nothing to pinch to relaease the buckle. you have to bend backwards and pull. It feels like it's going to break, but then just releases. Outside of that small issue, love these!

Ok, full disclosure: I ordered up a size or two from what the size chart indicated I should order because I wanted a looser fit rather than a backside-hugging one since I know I always pack my pockets fairly full. But the larger size is fine since the belt is adjustable and since that means I don't have to unzip or unbuckle, just pull the shorts up or down--quick dressing just like I prefer. Meanwhile, the zippered pockets are perfect for stashing my wallet, hotel room key, and phone when I'm at a hotel gym or my phone, dog "business" bags, pepper spray, and house keys when I'm out walking the dog. The brick red color is great, too, different from my workout black or grey shorts and actually attractive. I like the lightness of the fabric so that they'll dry readily if they get wet or if I wash them because they've gotten sweaty; they should dry quickly. I don't actually hike but I do work out in gyms and walk the dog a couple of times a day for 30-50 minutes, these shorts will be useful and used a lot in the coming months. I'm quite happy with my purchase since they'll also pack down well for packing inside a baggie for my backpack I use to travel light for trips. It's a cute and practical item!

The material used for these shorts is stretchy, cool, and comfortable. The problem I have is the fit. Walking in these, the legs ride up in the crotch so I had to keep pulling them down. The fit seems to be straight out from the waist to the hem so you look bigger than you are and a gust of wind blows up the shorts like a balloon. I’ll wear them around the house but not in public.
