This is a beast of a hoist which I use to fall big trees the way I want them to go. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hoist isn't as it appears in the picture. The terminal hook isn't on the end of a chain, but is on a pulley that rides on a loop of chain. The loop of chain is 10 feet long (so 20' of chain making a 10' loop). However, even getting this thing out in the woods and having it pull on trees while at about a 45 degree angle with the horizon, I didn't have any issue with this hook pulley jamming. What jams is the pull chain, and all that is necessary is a little tug in the opposite direction to clear the jam.

This is a light duty chain hoist that can be used for all kinds of lifting. The drawing chain flows smoothly and doesn’t require a lot of effort. The compact size is ideal for my work area in my shop. Single hook hanging makes it simple to use anywhere you have overhead support. It functions great and I use it much more than I had anticipated. I believe it’s a fair value for the cost. I haven’t done any real heavy lifting but I believe it will do what it claims to be capable of.

The unit is very heavy. I use it to lift my 800lb motorcycle. It does the job well. The top hook was just enough to slide in a 1 in pipe. I used a 10 ft x 1in black steel pipe supported by 2x4 studs to build my rig.

I was excited by the video because I have a lot of saw dust and it looked awesome but much to my disappointment it did not have the part that held the filters. I guess I’ll wear a mask under it. Really disappointed

We use this hoist for hanging items such as speakers to ceilings/iron/light rigging situations. Works perfectly for our needs.

Bought this for use on the farm. Makes short (and easy) work out of lifting heavy objects. Would recommend!

I mounted this in my attic in order to swap out water heaters. It worked perfectly. The chain runs smooth and does not bind. I recommend this product.

I have an exposed I-beam in the basement that I want to use with a trolley and this chain hoist. I had a lever hoist and that was not really the right tool. I got a 1/4 ton chain hoist. That worked but I was too close to the load limit. This 1 ton chain hoist is perfect for my use, except for one thing…The black oxide chain is dirty. The black chain is coated with oil and will get things dirty. Your hands will get dirty and that will transfer to other stuff you touch. I knew this going in but didn’t realize just how dirty it was. My nature is to keep things clean and this is takes me in the opposite direction. Next time I will look for chain that is coated differently. I’ve only used smooth zinc or some other clean coated chain in the past. The hoist works great and I do recommend it. I want it to lift the front of a small tractor and related implements for service. I have no issues with the hoist or its operation. I wish I got one with clean chain for my use.To be clear, the chain you pull to raise or lower the load is coated (zinc?). For the most part I can limit my touch of the load bearing chain.
