This shoulder plane is difficult to set the blade. The body of the plane is finished nicely. To set the blade for depth I used a very flat surface and shimmed the body for the depth of cut desired. Then clamp the unit to the flat surface. The blade wants to shift out of parallel when tightening with the wedge. Time & patience !!!

Used this for adding rabbets to boards to make picture frames since I don't have a router. Cuts poplar and pine reasonably well. Takes a bit of practice to learn how to position the blade but it works. Tool is quite sturdy.
