My 2nd type of expanding cap. Neither fit my bar end. It is loose and falls out. It may be fine for other users.

Sometimes reviews are simply hard to do. This item is exactly what it claims to be. Everything works as it should, they look great and they work with an old set of grips and lock ons that came with plastic ends that didn't lock in. They look great and operate as they should. They are lightweight and looked perfect out of the box, they have no branding so they go well with any grip that you want to replace the plastic end on and lock it in. I would certainly get these again if I rebuild another bike and need to good lock in handlebar ends.

They definitely give my bike a bit of a facelift, and they feel solid and well-made. The aluminum construction is a nice step up from the plastic plugs I had before. However, getting them in was a bit of a wrestling match. The expanding mechanism isn't the smoothest, and I had to fiddle with it quite a bit to get them to fit snugly. Also, keep in mind that they might not work with all handlebars, so double-check those measurements before you hit "buy."

These fit snugly and look much better than the cheap plastic plugs that come with new bikes.

You need a bar end plug that will hold up to getting banged around and these do the job. Rubber ends are destroyed pretty quickly on a mountain bike after hitting the ground just once. These might get scratched, but they are still just as functional as before a crash. These bar plugs easily go into the end of the bars, then the metal plug expands to secure the metal end cap in place. I have used several different brands of these on various bikes and have had trouble with the rubber ones working like they should. These work easily and well.

I've never had difficulty getting things that fit the outside of my MTB handlebars. Grips, shifters, bells, brake levers--all readily purchased off the shelf and fit just fine, though the included plastic end caps that came with most of the grips took a mallet to get in, I assumed that was part of the intended design. The part that remained visible covered the end of my handlebars. These are simply too big to install, and by a significant margin. It wasn't a problem I'd even considered possible, so it took me completely by surprise.Measure before buying. Otherwise, they seem like they would work well in a tube that is appropriately sized for them.
