This hood also fits the MK2 version of 16-55mm f2.8 on which I’m using it. A little heavier than the OEM plastic hood but also a bit shorter. Well made.

This lens shade is far more compact, elegant, and less likely to be damaged than the "tulip" shade provided with the Fujinon XF 16-80mm lens. I will likely leave it attached to my lens at all times.N.B. One reviewer said that this shade rotates loosely; that's how it seemed to me at first, but I found it locked in place securely when I turned it with just a little more torque.

Fits great. That one customer review with the video showing it is loose is not my experience. The lens cap fits so good. I have no issues with it falling off on its own. It does use the felt lining to create a snug and friction fitting. When you pull it off the snug lens cap, it pulls the lens 16-80mm lens out since the lens is telescopic. This means it is a two handed operation. It also fits a UV filter and a stacked CPL. I use a magnetic CPL for what it's worth. Too snug to turn the CPL with the hood on. Hood is required to be off when installing the CPL.

I like using lens hoods as a means of protecting the front lens element. I use a metal lens hood for my fuji 56 1.2 and 23 1.4. I also wished there was one similar for my 16-80 and I’m so glad that one is now available. The build is nice and solid, the paint finish is great. The lens hood cover is firm and should not accidentally come off even if the lens is pointing down when you are not using the camera. I only gave it 4 stars because the lens hood itself doesn’t feel as tight and may have a tendency to accidentally come off and lose it if you are not too careful. As I’ve mentioned, the lens hood cover is firm, so if the lens is facing away from you and use a clockwise twisting motion to take off the cover, you will easily unlock and unmount the lens hood from the bayonet mount. I even returned the first one I got because I thought the first one was just loose. This is not the case with the metal lens hood for my 56 and 23. But it’s a minor gripe. I just have to be careful with it and remember to remove the lens hood cover without twisting it or to twist it the opposite direction. The lens hood looks great on the camera and saves me space in the bag because of its length and also saves me the hassle of having to unmount and reverse the hood like the original hood that came with my lens.

I had gotten the previous version of this lens hood, to replace the plastic OEM hood (which had come with the lens) because it extended much less further from the lens, but when I saw this new version, which is similar in design to the one for the XF 14/2.8, I knew that it flared-out less at the corners, rendering it even more compact. Having the round cap fit onto the front is ingenious, and preserves the space-saving design of the hood. Although this brand’s lens hoods are more expensive than they should be, they’re designed with proprietary compliance and users’ experience in mind. Truth be told, however, if some company like JJC had been selling a plastic version for half as much, I’d have opted for that.

I appreciate that the hood does not expand out but rather follows the height and width of the viewing angles needing shielding. Also, after breaking the first shield which came with the lens (falling on a mountain hike) I appreciate the metal construction.

Fit great on the lens and although I was a little nervous about it blocking the field of view at 16mm, it didn’t at all. Looks great, fits great, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a different lens hood for their 16-80mm.
