My neighbour and I bought these to protect a fire hose crossing the paved road in front of our summer homes in the Western Canada mountains, where forest fire danger is very real. In August 2024 we tested our whole fire protection system, including these. Although they protected our fire hose, there were some nervous moments. Our fire hose comes from a gas-powered pump taking water from the lake, and goes across the road where it is routed to rooftop sprinklers, auxiliary yard sprinklers, and fire hoses. If you lose your water line when there's a fire, you've got nothing, so these hose protectors are absolutely vital. So let's talk about the problems. Firstly, you have to slow down traffic to a crawl when they cross the ramp, or it is much more susceptible to damage. We had a few people driving their big macho pickup trucks who basically took the attitude "this ramp can't hurt me, I'll just blast over it" and a few of those crossings moved the ramps and nearly caused damage.The ramps attach to each other in only 1 orientation, such that the hinges for the flaps that close up over the hose are all aligned in a straight line. Traffic coming one direction gets to the hinge side first, whereas traffic coming from the other direction gets to the non-hinged side of the flap first. On a few occasions, we noticed that a vehicle's front wheels, when passing from the non-hinged side toward the hinged side of the flap, would actually cause the flap to lift up 2 to 4 inches. Luckily for us and our fire hose, the flaps fell back into place before the rear wheels got to the ramp. Otherwise, it would surely have caused major damage to the ramp and likely some damage to the vehicle. It would be great if these ramps could be connected to each other such that on each side of the road you could make it so oncoming vehicles would get to the hinge side first and thus prevent the cover flap from popping up.When these ramps arrived, they were still off-gassing horribly badly. I had to put them in a detached garage, get an exhaust fan going 7x24 for air quality purposes, and leave the big garage door open for a couple weeks before they became tolerable. I wonder what toxins I was breathing in the meanwhile?The product description says their load limit is 44,000 lbs. When I saw how a large F-350 type of pickup affected them while rolling over them, I can only hope we never get a vehicle that has a 44,000 lb. load on one axle. I really wonder if that claimed number is real, or is just a BS marketing statement.These things aren't cheap. What you see in the picture is nearly $1,000. For that kind of price, we were expecting a product that was more robust than we got. Not sure what we'll do if a truck damages our ramps, but I doubt we'd buy identical replacements.

1 out of 6 did not make it through 3 weeks of use so far. The yellow plastic covers do not look durable. They are larger than I expected.Update - 2 more falling apart after 4 weeks (so 3 out 6 falling apart). Yellow plastic cover came off two and one of those two is disintegrating like the one in the picture. These are junk.

First off, I should’ve read the description better. Thought I was getting 3, 3 channel pieces not 1, 3 channel piece. Would have been a great price for 3. Not a good price for 1. The product works, but doesn’t seem as sturdy as suggested. If I was driving over this daily, I think it would fail within a couple months. I drive over it maybe 6 times a month, I’ve had it installed for about 3 months and it already shows signs of buckling. Out of the box, the yellow cover didn’t lay flat on 3 of the 4 pieces. Not a huge deal, but not quality. They sit on an asphalt driveway. They slide a foot or so every time I drive over the so I constantly have to reposition them.For me, with my limited use and that I only need them for a few more months, they’re ok. But I wouldn’t buy them again. I’d look for something more sturdy. I’m just hoping they hold up for the next few months.

I purchased nine of these ramps for my construction project. After just one day - with just cars and regular work trucks driving over - the plastic started cracking and breaking at the hinges. We immediately removed them before the heavy trucks were scheduled to work the following week.The description says these ramps can handle 44,000-88,000 pounds. NOT true. The heaviest truck that rolled over them at my job could not have been more than about 10,000 pounds with tools. Can you imagine what my power cables would have looked like if a concrete truck rolled over?It's not surprising that a product description is not accurate. But what's worse is the way the seller has handled this. They refused to send me a pre-paid shipping label. Actually - they just ignored my specific request. Each ramp weighs about 32 pounds. Shipping would cost me about $450. I paid about $700 for the ramps. I repeatedly asked for a pre-paid shipping label. They ignored my request and just kept offering me a fraction of the full cost if I just kept them. No fewer than eight conversations with them - and at least four with Amazon - and I am still no where. The defective ramps are boxed (a whole other story) and ready for return. The seller has stopped returning my inquiries. No more 3rd party purchases for me. BTW - I would give the product and the seller NO stars - but I had to select at least one for this review. My first ever on Amazon.

There is quite a bad rubber smell when you open. Mine have been outside for one month to air out and has finally improved when brought into garage.
