My house loves tea and we love new tea but this once opened we hated the smell right away! Smelled like a lit cigarette and we tried one and it tasted of stale cigarette and black liquorice..... would never buy it again. Very disappointed in it. Only good thing I could say sadly about this tea was the can is super cute and sturdy and not very easily bend or dent able.

I’m new to tea and I thoroughly enjoy Harney &Sons English Breakfast and didn’t think it could be topped. I was wrong. Black Cask Bourbon hits the palette smoothly with a wondrous smokey flavor. This tea is perfection that I promptly ordered another tin. I believe this Black Cask Bourbon will pair well with a La Gloria Cubana Estelle cigar.

If drinking tea that has been collected in a barn excites you, then this Black Cask Bourbon Tea is for you. Rather than Vanilla & Light Caramel as a 'nose', this tea smells and tastes like it was collected up from a barn floor. I have welcomed many different teas by Harney & Sons, but this does not make a delightful cuppa at all.

Overall this tea is lovely. A bit smoky, a bit sweet. Its a little wesk, but still a nice afternoon tea. Absolutely worth the $5 I paid for it, and Id buy it again at $10.One important note: this is a BLACK tea base, not an herbal. If you brew this with boiling water, it will taste bitter and burnt. For best results, steep for three minutes at about 185F- boiling water with a small ice cube thrown in.

I drink a lot of tea, from very high end stuff to the low end. I'm not a snob about it. Harney & sons is okay, middle shelf or so. Some good selections some not so good. I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately the name conveys a flavor that does not exist in the actual beverage. I found the tea to be a little too astringent and closer to low end black tea in flavor. If there is a hint of some kind of bourbon cask, it is so whisper thin that I can't detect it. There is some kind of a wooden note that maybe in the minds of the people who named this particular type hints to bourbon, but as a bourbon drinker and a tea drinker, I don't really think that's what the flavor is. Hard pass on this one for the next time, although Harney does make some good teas as well.

The smokey scent and flavor is a little strong , like when I brew it I try not to smell it because its not appetizing to me but once you add a good splash of milk or cream it is a very pleasant experience! I find myself enjoying this tea a couple times a week. I consider myself on a tea journey as I made the switch from coffee and highly recommend giving this smokey tea a chance if you want to have something a little out of the norm!

This is one of those teas that I initially didn't think I liked*. After I finished the first cup, I mentally added this tea to the growing list of teas that I don't need to reorder. Then I had my second cup, and am so glad I didn't give the tin away after the first cup! Yum! Very smooth and unique. It has layers of flavors that include a smokiness but under that is a little sweetness. Not bitter at all.For me, this is not an everyday tea--it is a special treat on a stormy day type of tea. I will order this again. If you like strong teas with complex flavors, I think this is worth buying. I'm glad I tried it!*The other tea by Harney that I initially didn't think I liked is the Vanilla Comoro decaf. I was hooked on the second cup. I think part of the problem is that I started drinking both teas when they were still too hot. The flavors come out more (at least for me) when the tea has cooled just a bit.

1st off I like to say that I have tried a good amount of H and S tea over the years. I usually don't have issues with their flavored tea except this one. What ever was in this, a few sips gave me a headache and my stomach wasn't reacting well either. I'm a bit surprised which has me wonder what is in it.It has a smoky aroma which is typical of a smoked Lap Sang Sou Chong. It does have a savory note to it when you make it more concentrated. The light, sweet aroma is from the flavoring. The sweetness is from the tea. Anyone who had a LSSC by itself knows it gives off the smoky aroma as if you're next to a BBQ or grill. But it has a sweetness to the taste. The unsmoked LSSC is sweet.Set aside the odd reaction to the tea, taste wise isn't my cup of tea either. It doesn't have a lot of depth since it very much taste of a flavoring with LSSC.As for the aroma of bourbon, that depends on what type you're smelling. If you like the ones that smell more smoky, then this has it. If you're going with more sweet aroma or other notes that make it rich and complex, this is not the one. It can be done with a variety of teas. Just a matter of taking time to blend and be playful.Their Earl Grey Supreme is the best out of their Earl Grey line. In terms of a lot of flavored teas, that one, Tower of London, Diamond Jubilee and Tropical Green stand out the most.
